continuing this askand things are only getting more confusing for the 'Two duo
Also don’t quote me on pokemon moves, all I know is Mewtwo’s shadow balls hit everyone and damage everything, I don’t think the anime always go by game logic

Okay, now I need to see a comic where Ash tries to give a petname to Mewtwo. I am pretty sure nothing bad will come out of it.

On a side note, if Newtwo ends up sticking around, I can imagine her and Mewtwo developing a kind of protective brother/sister complex with Ash. Kinda like a Zacian/Zamazenta parallel.
And I can just imagine all the antics Mew would have with them.

Now these two interacting are giving me piccolo and kami vibes (kinda)
again a good touch that newtwo has shown to be slower on the draw and more open to distraction (she has had a more carefree life with very little existential doubt)
while Mewtwo is more focused and lightning quick on the draw
further we see a new diverge in their maturity in The social aspect. In addition to likely being older, Mewtwo is calmer and more at ease to talk while she is more guarded.
aside from that, I take it that mewtwo is again fearing for ash’s safety. Newtwo is mildly surprised to see that odd boy again.
mewtwo is likely in disbelief that newtwo has met Ash too and she is unfazed by it (unaware of ash’s Alleged legendary/mythical poke encounters)
I've seen movie 16 and I’m interpreting that ash simply chose not to pester this newtwo much out of a no great need (at the time) to pry and maybe an entrenched idea/ intuition that newtwo didn’t really need help, companionship or guidance from him - thus he trusted her discretion to choose and act outside his input.
And now he’s being explicitly made aware there are now (at least) two mewtwos

This is Ash we're talking about, The kid may be the savior of the universe but hes denser than a bag of bricks. I could you anything he couldn't tell there was a difference in the voices. I bet you anything it all sounded the same to him.
