Description The best way of making an autograph.
The other way of making an autograph.

When I was a kid, I did that quite often and I always ended up with marker spots and lines all over my hands.

Today is Children's Day! Yup, you've guessed - this piece is dedicated to 'em.

Now, if you're so smart, try and guess why she's holding that marker in such a weird way.
(and no, people, there isn't anything wrong with her hands...)

EDIT!

What? A DD??? For me??? Wait, what?
Now, that's just incredible. Seriously?
No, really, I'm shocked, happy like Santa after Christmas, cause he can lay around and do nothing, confused, shocked, happy and I really don't know what to say!
Just a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who at least visited this piece, to ~Color-Her-World for suggesting and to `joannastar for featuring!

Wow, I still can't get over it...

Hahaha, it's over-edited anyway (I'm a dirty postwork cheater)!

Extreme thank you on a bungee!

And oh, I didn't actually draw it - it was rendered in 3D, so the light was done by the computer. I've only set the light sources.

This is a sweet scene, well done on lighting and texturing dude!

Sooooo....why she holding it weird? The popular answer is she's left-handed, so I'ma throw another possibility out there too; her right little finger is missing

Honestly though, I think every child holds pens and stuff like that anyway, regardless of which hand.

Great work!

Peace, Lance

I had to see a comment, I didn't even GUESS this was digitally made. I was going to comment that I thought you over-edited the left hand so it looks almost fake (still an amazing picture though) and then I realized it IS fake! Hehe, that was fun to look at!

You're so welcome I love this so much which programme did you use?
It took me about 5 minutes until I realized that this isn't a photograph and then I was like ^^

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Aiseiri [2010-01-07 12:08:19 +0000 UTC]

Haha!
I used three programs:
3ds max (for mental ray rendering), Zbrush (for sculpting and making texture bases) and Photoshop (for refining the textures, compositing and postwork).

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Aiseiri In reply to tchaikovsky2 [2010-01-07 17:48:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I got 3ds max too but that's just for making well buildings and hmm trees and so on I thought รด.รด That was why I got maya 2009 so far. What do you think about that programme?
So your picture was build in Zbrush, Textrues were made with Zbrush and made better with Photoshop and rendered in 3ds max?
How do I make textures in Photoshop? (I know Photoshop and I am doing a lot in it I just never did any 3d art so I don't know how to make textures and what I have to consider about that.)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Aiseiri [2010-01-18 12:28:21 +0000 UTC]

Maya is better and easier than 3ds max, but 3ds max has better modelling tools. That's quite the choice, no?
I'm a n00b at Maya, so I can't tell you more.

Actually my workflow is a bit different and a tad more complicated, especially that part about textures.

To make textures in Photoshop you first need a UV template of your model. Then you load that template into Photoshop (or any other program for 2D painting) and just paint on the template (which lets you know where particular parts of the model are). And to render a UV template in 3ds max, you select your model with UVs, add an Unwrap UVW modifier (if there isn't one already), on it's Parameters rollout, you click "Edit...".
The UV editor pops up. In it, you go to Tools and select "Render UVW template...". There you just type in your desired texture resolution (best to keep it BIG, where BIG is 2048x2048 to 8192x8192, but that depends on the importance and size of the model). You might also want to let 3ds max guess the aspect ratio (there's a button like that, but it's not always correct), and then you just press the "Render UV Template" button. You save the output to your hard drive and load it in Photoshop.

Hope this helps.

Uhm... what is a UV template?
After you told me I'll try it out once I learned how the programme is working!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Aiseiri [2010-01-19 13:55:38 +0000 UTC]

Just so you know - I have no idea how (and IF) you can render a UV template in Maya.

A UV template is a 2D graphic representation of a 3D model's texture coordinates. If you don't know at all what are UVs: they are like a map that tells parts of the texture to go on a particular part of a model. It works exactly the same way plushies are made - you have a square sheet of some sort of fabric (like a texture in 3D), cut out pieces of specific shapes (UV "islands" in 3D) and sew them all together (and we have a model). Though in 3D the process is reversed. First you make a model, then you make those flat pieces of fabric ("islands" in the UV editor), and that gives you a template on which you can put colors (texture) in, let's say, Photoshop. Got it?

Just don't ask me how to make UVs, cause I'd have to make a whole tutorial on it, and there's no reason for that, cause the internet is full of UV unwrapping tutorials.

Good luck!
