Before you say anything, that theropod that fought the Stegosaurus was not this one, but a T-Rex. Besides Deems Taylor said it himself, and the concept art confirms this as a T-Rex. Though I see why they would call it Allosaurus because it had 3 fingers. Blame Disney himself because he suggested to have T-Rex with 3 fingers to make him more scarier. Even though in 1940, thanks to his relative Gorgosaurus, it has two fingers on his hands. Also this came from two animation drawings based on an Allosaurus during the extinction scene that you can see in the links. Also I realized it's based on the famous Charles R Knight's famous display in the AMNH.
