Well since you asked so nicely-- basically, yeah, seriously. A personal tragedy that cost her her family and gave her an above-average rage toward those who would exploit their power to harm those weaker led to trauma, and the resolution that she would thereafter gain power herself and use it to protect the weak and prevent others from suffering same. She's literally the same vigilante archetype as a Batman or a Zorro or any of those sorts. But I'ma pick Batman because I adore me some damn Batman.

Wouldn't say never, but would say that if she ever does accept Rask's presence, it will take a VERY long time. Either way, this and the previous page definitely show why she acts the way she does.
