Hia! I'm from ProjectComment and I'm here to give you some constructive criticism. I love the picture! I think the focus is great for the most part and the subject matter is a creative view at something we normally wouldn't see in that manner. However, I do have some suggestions. In the upper left hand corner, the focus is a bit weird, it looks like you were moving so I don't know how that's possible. Whatever happened, it is drawing a bit to much attention and making me dizzy so perhaps you could add a vignette or something of the sort to make it less of a focal point. In the future, also try to avoid pieces in the front of the focal point that distract like those flowers in the foreground. Taking the picture from the right could have eliminated this as well. That's really all the critique I have in terms of technique! You were clearly looking to focus on the texture of the opening in this photo and I like that. Maybe it would have been interesting if you took the photo from the same height as the hole so it seems a bit more mysterious. I don't know, just something to think about for the future... I really like this photo and all of your photographs in general- please keep up the great work!

Aw, thank you for the constructive criticism and compliment! I think the background got like that because it was a verticalish hill that was behind my focal point, sorry it's dizzying!

I'm usually not a huge fan of photography but I kinda of really like this. Maybe its because of the focus given? I'm not sure. But either way I think it's actually a pretty unique picture because even though it's probably not anything greatly mysterious, but if you give it some imagination you can really make this picture worth a lot to the mind. Like maybe that's actually a giant whole in the side of a huge rock or something ya know. Either way aside from that the colors captured all work really well together Β and nothing stands out more than it should. And again the focus on the camera keeps making my eyes move around the photo to good job!!!Β Β

Looking at this as a photographer, if this were my shot i'd be proud to put it up for a project. A nature booklet perhaps.Β
At first, looking at this photo my eyes weren't sure exactly where to focus. The grass in the forefront, bright green against the dirt or the fungus growing on the ant hill. The outline of the hill isn't exactly crisp. However, the subject is clear in the photo. It's the hole, but I only really got that from context clues, what you've said in your comment/photo title.Β
This photo is definitely not bad, but I feel like this photo was more of a simple click/done job. The focus isn't jumping out at the viewer.
On another note entirely, it's a very inspiring photo and I'll be adding it to my favorites. It makes me want to paint.
Overall if I had to rate this I'd give it 3 1/2 stars.

Thank you so much for the feedback and favourite! Hm, what would you suggest to make a photo like this better next time? I'm not sure about the focus, but I do shoot with an 8 megapixel camera and you can't change lenses on it
, perhaps that's why the quality isn't as great as it could be? But I'm so glad it inspired you!

Here's a article that I often read -Β improvephotography.com/2989/10β¦
For the subject (focus) of the photo, I've always been told you want that centered(there are exceptions to this rule). There's a lot in the foreground that takes away from the subject. The blur right up front leads your eye away from the subject. This is not to say that foreground is a bad thing, it can add depth. A few blades of grass and a rock up front can be a good thing, but a full corner is taken up with blur.
Also, you can do awesome things with any camera. I've seen masterpieces from cellphone cameras. So don't get discouraged.Β
The general quality of the photo is great and the green/brown grass against the blue/red undertones of the ground looks amazing.
Have an awesome day x

Really? That's interesting, as I've been told to always keep your focal point out of the center And thank you once again for the advice!

I guess that depends on who you talk to. Do whichever keeps the subject clear for that specific picture?
