You know, the comparison between Finkman and Mettaton EX occurred to me as well. I sort of see Finkman as a more self-aware version of Mettaton because WHtRJ realizes actually how much of an annoying asshole Finkman is, while Undertale actually expects you to... somehow... actually like Mettaton.

On the one hand, we never got to actually see Robot beat up Finkman. On the other hand, you can beat up Mettaton in Undertale, but not without killing him outright, and the game then lionizes him as some sort of Christlike figure along with every other character you kill. So of the two I'd say Finkman's better written.
