Rimmy came from a middle-class background- her family were well-off, and while there was not much success to their name, they believed they were going alright and saw no reason to try and put their talents for Hell's uses.
All acceptable on the surface! Not exactly liked in Hell, however. If you wanted to be respected, you had to aim high and reach for that level of power, so we're told to believe. Rimmy was told this at a young and impressionable age, so she found enough drive to make her want to achieve this goal.
She worked and studied hard, getting good grades and receive much praise for her effort by her teachers and trainers.
Her parents didn't care much for her success, not exactly believing that their daughter could reach such a dream, but.. They didn't find any reason to say anything like that to their child! She seemed enthusiastic, and why put a damper on a dreamer?

Well, the other students were little shits.

Quite frankly, the idea of some girl from a low-class family who blended in amongst the other immortals of Hell actually rising to a high rank among leaders was laughable. She was bullied a lot, and it became constant to the point where anything she said was ridiculed.
It's a pretty bad way to go through your childhood, yeah. If it counts, Rimmy tried her hardest to ignore everyone and to continue on her way, managing to still get her straight As.
The older you get, the meaner and more twisted people can become. The girls were catty and the cliques formed would target those smaller and weaker. Rimmy happened to be on that list.
She decided to take the mature route and report the bullies to her own parents, who were strangely hesitant. The names she said were insanely well-liked and powerful..
Going out and saying their daughter was being tormented by their children could've caused a potentially dangerous reaction that could ruin their easy-going lives.
You couldn't blame them for worrying.
But telling your daughter that she shouldn't be raising her hopes so high in the first place isn't comforting at all to hear.

She was repulsed by the outcome.
Her grades slowly began to plummet on their own, and as she went through her school years, she just..

The demon buried all hopes deep under Hell's dirt and continued on. It caused a slow progress of others around her to stop targeting her and move on to another.. Sure, add that to the list of pros of the situation, sure.
However, she grew up cold and distant from others. She had a warped vision of how others saw her, and even if the teasing died down, she couldn't help but stay suspicious. Even then..
Her eyes still sparkled for those with power. Her respect never died! Such amazing and talented demons, held kindly with praise and seemingly natural-born talent.
How in Devil's name could such a lowly girl like her even compare? And to besmirch such glory with her own existence.
Perish the thought! Her life is good, yes.

After all, her family is well-off. There might not be much success to their name, but she believes things are finer like this. No reason to put her talents into Hell's uses, she does not deserve the pleasure.
