This was done very fast and is a bit experimental, and I tweaked it a lot until I more or less liked it. :/
Here's the story:
It happened maybe 8 years ago (from the point in the comic), when Itztli was about 17-18 years old. Itztli had been under Tez' patronage since the age of 8 or 9 years old (see

), and in the years following he had received standard education in the calmecac as well as education by the priests. He had devoted his life to Tez, but he learned to be a warrior as well as a priest. Among Itztli's family's neighbors lived a girl, Malinali, who he fell in love with. They talked and went to festivities together, danced and went for walks in the gardens. Tez watched with growing displeasure, and when finally Itztli went to ask the god's leave to take a wife despite being half priest, he declined, and requested to have the girl sacrificed to him as punishment. Itztli obeyed, heartbroken. Malinali accepted her fate, since the god himself had requested it, and Itztli swore to himself and Tez to never marry and become Tezcatlipoca's highpriest.
uh, I hope that was interesting to some it's more or less canon, even if it probably doesn't make historically correct sense and is in no way necessary for the story *shrug*, I just like the drama and the emotional abuse Tez is subjecting Itztli to
because I'm mean.
(But I'm a sucker for happy endings, so I will make him happy eventually ... ... someday...)
