This city is full of beautiful churches.
I spent a few days working on art there.
Most of the city was built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
My guess is this church was probably built around that time too.

Oh, yes, that dates the scene fairly accurately. Now, did you simplify the surface details of the church itself in order to increase its principle masses and thus its visual impact? My reason for asking is that the church, in your graphic portrayal, looks rather sleek, almost too sleek for a Gothic revival structure. This is just my impression, of course. WWL

The surface of the church is definitely simplified.
In real life it is stone masonry with a little variation in size and color in every stone.
I like minimalist vector artwork which I see a lot in commercial art e.g. logo design, and in pop art.
I think I was hoping to bring some of that feeling to landscape art using a vector graphic editor.
Your drawings also seem to be simplified in some sense.
However, there is much more texture to the surfaces.
I especially notice the indications of individual bricks which I haven't tried to do yet.

Your remarks explain a great deal. Yes, now that you mention it, some of your posted artwork does remind me of posters and the "pop art" of the 1960s and 1970s. Roy Lichtenstein and even Warhol, for instance. Interesting that the family name was Warhola and some of his brothers or sisters might still be alive.
Yes, even my fantasy, neo-Gothic architecture has been simplified. Not so much in texture but in detail. All of the elaborate tracery and filigree one sees in the late Gothic cathedrals, for instance, was left out on purpose for two chief reasons. One, the Canid People who built these structures on their imaginary world of Erd, had no time or taste for such detail. Two, the brute simplicity of their massive buildings reflected their own physical massiveness. It was very much like Henry Hobson Richardson (1838-1886), a giant of a fellow, working in his equally massive Romanesque Revival. WWL
