During the events of Revelation (by Simon Furman, EJ Su, Nick Rocke and more), Hot Rod used the all-knowing power of the Magnificence, thus halting the Dead Universe creatures from invading our dimension.
But as Simon Furman revealed in an interview, the Magnificence is a "poisoned chalice", and there's a dire price to pay every time you use it (a hint promptly ignored by IDW and the writers who took up after Furman, in a very classy move).
That price is much greater than just the Dead Universe overwriting our reality -- as the Transformers of the whole multiverse are about to find out.
It's an all-encompassing Crisis, as per Furman's original plans for the original IDW relaunch of the brand: Megatron, Optimus Prime, Hot Rod, Arcee, Grimlock, the Matrix, Bumblebee, Cybertron-- they won't be the same anymore.
And how comes that Macabre is the tip of the scale in this worlds-changing event?

Collecting short comics The Artifacts, Poisoned Chalice, Magnificent Premonition and the long comic Magnificent Crisis, this PDF edition also features both the original covers and two special bonuses: a Rodimus Prime pencil sketch, and the Secret File of the Unity Sceptre!

What is the Unity Sceptre, why is Rodimus Prime destined to receive it, and how is it related to the Treasures Of The Lights and the Instruments Of Destruction?
How can the Unity Sceptre stand as equal among the Balance Staff, the Matrix Goblet, the Magnificence and the Decadionic Swords?

Done. That was probably an editing (in the comic book sense) job that should've given you guys instant work at any sane comics company. Also, I lost it several times, especially at the Megatron/Starscream interactions when they become dumbified by the multiversal grafting.

I'm glad you guys took that time!!!!
It was very enjoyable, and I loved the various references! The various images/mentions of the other universes/continuities (Starsaber was there!), and the takeover of the Movies' universe... I loved that aspect of it. I had never thought about about what the characters might think about their redesigns and character-rewrites... Seeing Bumblebee and Arcee revert back to their original G1 states was rather comical. And seeing that it was Rodimus alone that could see reality -- whereas everyone else (even Optimus!) went on as if nothing had changed... I thought that was really cool. Rodimus is personally my favorite character, and seeing him portrayed so well makes me happy. ^^

A very well made comic. The story was solid, as was the art, and everything to it.
I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you.

Thank you so much-- this is one of the most gratifying reaction I've ever read.
And of course Rodimus Prime is also my favorite Transformer ever: I simply couldn't help bringing him into this universe, following Simon Furman's approach (Rodimus Prime and Hot Rod are different characters now, just like Galvatron and Megatron).

And speaking of movie characters, check out our The Dark Side of Sentinel comic!

Rodimus Prime and Hot Rod are separate? Wow! I had heard of the Megatron/Galvatron separate deal, but never the HotRod/Rodimus... How does that work out exactly?

I'll make sure to check it out! These comics are gold!

Sorry, I meant that this "Crisis" ends with Rodimus/Hot Rod being different entities

Oh! Okay --- sorry for the misunderstanding!
Here it works rather well, a sacrifice on his part in order to save all... Rodimus and Hotrod now two rather than one... Rodimus was always, to me, the most heroic of all Transformers, and this comic does justice to that.
His sacrifice here will not be in vain --- for although now two, he is still himself. His final speech is perfect in that!! He always had a way of seeing things that seemed -- right somehow. As if it was he, and he alone, that would eventually end the Great War... And various other conflicts (not least this one!)....
This is truly fitting of the heroic figure he is!

Rodimus Prime has always looked "special" to me, truly a chosen one, since I saw him exploring the Matrix from within, by risking his own life in the process (Five Faces Of Darkness). Had Optimus Prime ever done anything like that, I used to wonder?
Only later I had a chance to see the 1986 Movie, in which Rodimus Prime did something spectacular as well: he inherited the Matrix, which Optimus Prime had never used in the cartoons (for other reasons, of course), and even being clueless about it, Rodimus Prime opened it and defeated the impossible evil of Unicron!
That as another proof that Rodimus Prime was a chosen one, able to explore the mystical side of Cybertronians like no one before him.
Again, he wasn't just that: while Optimus Prime spent 20 years fighting the Decepticon on Earth (and letting them conquer Cybertron), Rodimus Prime claimed Cybertron back, cornered the Decepticons on Earth, and finally managed to unite the rest of the galactic civilizations into an interstellar community (I remember more than one diplomatic meeting between many civilizations on Cybertron, thanks to Rodimus).

In the years to come, I found that this vision had many shades and contradictions, but my original view of Rodimus Prime remained unchanged.
The G1 Marvel UK comics added a lot to this vision, as in them we even saw Rodimus Prime sacrificing his own body to contain the evil of Unicron. No matter the price, he saved Cybertron and the galaxy once again.

This is the background on which I based the Seeds Of Decepticon version of Rodimus Prime: nothing really new... just a sum of the true story of the greatest Transformer leader ever.

Once again, thank you for sharing your views and for your awesome support!

That pretty much sums up how I feel about him as well. I first saw him in the 1986 Movie, and was intrigued from his first viewing as Hotrod. He had such an appealing personality -- a truly courageous figure!
When Optimus died, I found myself less emotional about his death then about Hotrod's reaction... That deep sorrow in his voice when he said, "Optimus... Forgive me!" .... Then, as the elder Prime died, when Hotrod caught the Matrix... I knew there was something special about him then, and the entire adventure of the Movie only added to his personality. I truly loved his heroism, and also his natural knack for leadership (being able to befriend the Junkions, single-handedly!)...
Watching his final confrontation with Galvatron --- and as he opened the Matrix... His growth -- Optimus' voice and his -- with the Touch playing in the background... It sent chills down my spine --- then he threw Galvatron out of the self-destructing Unicron. He ran before the flames, them unable to touch him. Finally, him uttering the old "Transform and roll out!", and Kup spouts off, "I knew you had potential!" ... And then, to top it all off, he ends the Cybertronian Wars... As the ending credits rolled, I knew that he was truly great...
My imagination of him soared. Then, watching S3 only added to the awe, the wonder of his personality. The Five Faces of Darkness (the scenes you spoke of were indeed some of the most memorable!) showed just how much of a weight his burden was -- as did the rest of the season... His character development was truly astounding -- as was his desire for peace, and real change... He pitied the Decepticons --  and was not afraid to make sacrifices... He did (as you mentioned) instigate many peace conferences -- and tried to overcome his differences with his enemies... But even as every episode ended in a dire sacrifice (unlike season 1 and 2), his desire for a better peaceful galaxy never faded...
He was truly the most amazing character. His humorous, but genuinely compassionate personality..  His self-sacrificing decisions that were more saddening then any other character... My admiration for him is indescribable...

And seeing that much of the world hates him as a character truly saddens me. Those people don't give him any credit for what he was and is --- not seeing what should be obvious... I'm not saying that he has to be everyone's favorite character. That's left to the individual. Even still... To see that he is little appreciated is very disheartening, and seems to add to his tragic figure...

I've still not read any of the comics, although I need too. From what I've heard, the the British continuity has some of the best stuff. Hearing about what you say about Rodimus from it though really intrigues me! At least he was appreciated there! His sacrifice is truly the most noble of any.

I'm glad to read these comics, and to find others who actually appreciate and love Rodimus as much as I do.
It always makes my day...
Thanks for the comics, and for talking about Rodimus -- and your view on him. ^^

I'm glad to provide support! And I look forward (again), to reading the rest of your comics here!
