Love the values in the ground plains. Got any tips in how you pick your contrasts?

thanks! Uhhh if you mean the values I just try to keep consistent with my light source and keep the initial read strong and work around those. Dno if that helps :3

It does some. It's the light source I'm not really familiar with in landscapes yet. Things like the highlight in the bottom left, I never seem to know where to place them, and what value to give them.
Thanks though

Values are relative to those around them. Get your basic scheme going and build up from them. In terms of why I have the light coming through down there thats to do with compositional flow, if it wasnt there it would be quite split into a black bottom half and light top half. I recommend Craig mullins: Traditional Art Values in Digital Art. He talks about a lot of interesting stuff that a goes a little deeper into why pictures are successful or not and how to go about it.
