While walking home from school she was caught in the crossfire of a wizard's duel and was accidentally turned into rubber. By some miracle, she didn't die. Her mind retained sentience over the mass of rubber. The enchanted rubber also kept some organic properties such as healing and growth. As she experimented with her ability to control every aspect of her body, she came up with several practical techniques to use in everyday life and, on occasion, fight crime.

*Growing and shrinking are a magical property. There is no limit to how much she can grow or shrink.

*Mercy's regeneration is almost as slow as the rate of normal human healing. For example, if she lost a digit somewhere, she could stretch one out of still attached rubber to replace it, but once she relaxed her form it would be mostly be missing again.

*Limited shape-shifting. She can turn into objects just fine. And while she could shape-shift into another person, it would only resemble them to a certain degree and would not fool anyone for very long. (She can't seem to change how her eyes look.)

*Severed pieces can potentially be controlled by her from a distance, however her mind seems to occupy only the largest portion of her body at a time.
