I have a theory, President Business had taken care of Emmet when he was young
When Emmet was a child, his father was a alcoholic causing him to be abusive to his wife and Emmet.
Emmet's mother couldn't take it anymore and said that she will divorce him and take her son with her, a fight broke out. The father had killed Emmet's mother and punched his son many times.
Frightened, Emmet ran away, tears in his eyes. The only shelter he found was behind a building where there was little food and water and only a worn out blanket.
Two weeks later President Business had found the young boy, defiantly shocked to find a child living in these conditions, he picked Emmet up and brought him to the Octan Tower.
In only a few days the boy was regaining strength and he looked to President Business as a father, his hero.
Soon the President grew close to the young boy as well and adopted him.
When time passed Emmet got stronger and stronger, President Business found out he's pretty good at fixing things.
Emmet kept getting inspired by Business but when he tried to build something it wouldn't work, so to make him feel better Business made instructions for Emmet so he could at least build something close to what President Business built.
At the age of 20 Emmet Brickowski graduated from collage, and he went to work at the construction site Business was proud of him.
However He started to get confused from everyone building from his inventions, and Business banded any sort of building that were not made from the instructions.
When that didn't work he had the idea of freezing the world, he slowly forgot about Emmet.
Around the point where it was the end of the movie, Emmet comes back and tells Business he's special, he started remembering Emmet and smiles, he embraces him and every person frozen is unfrozen again.
