Lovely picture, pity about the hammer and sickle motif, us Irish socialists use a symbol called the Starry Plough made in the shape of the Plough constellation with a soldiers bayonet beaten into the ploughshare.Β
During our revolution in the 20's the Irish Citizen Army used it as a battle flag and hung it from their battle headquarters at the Dublin G.P.O when the first shots were fired,

It's hard for me to see the Hammer and Sickle without seeing the logo dripping with blood...

I myself refuse to ignore the blood. It's better to remember what has been done wrong, what crimes have been committed. If you forget, you're apt to repeat the mistakes.
Al Stewart?! Deary, what is with Al Stewart...
Seriously, I hear Al Stewart songs everywhere. Especially "Year of the Cat". It's like it follows me or something.
An interesting song, though. Very interesting.
I don't excuse Lenin either, although there is evidence to suggest that some of his crimes were not exactly on purpose. Does that make anything better? No. But I have my doubts Lenin was as genuinely murderous as Stalin turned out to be. And Mao? I've never been a big supporter of Mao, to be honest...
