painter 9 and some touchups in photoshop. done pretty quickly. still feeling this stuff out. painter is hard without a stylus at first, and i definately don't understand all the subtlties of the program yet, but i'm getting better acquaintedRelated content

0.0 I love this...the abstract strokes...everything. This would be so awesome as a huge huge huge poster. But the color scheme is awesome...you should think about a series with this guy or abstract people like him...
oh...the style reminds me of something from that movie that came out a while ago...it was black and white and mostly computer-generated...captian something or other...it had the old fifties planes and stuff...dang it...i can't believe i can't remember the title!

hahaha! sky captain and the world of tomorrow? i'm a little embarassed i that i knew that. anyway thank you very much, i'm really glad you like this. it was like the first thing i ever did in painter. maybe i should try doing some more really loose figural pieces again, to get me out of this semi-rut i've been in. thanks for the advice and the kind words

I spend way too much time on my stuff in painter, I've been trying to get it down like you have here, using few strokes to make a piece. Great stuff, keep it up! +watch

hey, thanks a lot man! i do love ashley wood's work. he's definately one of my biggest influences right now, but i'm hoping to not emulate his style TOO much. i don't want to come off as a poor man's Wood. i'm glad you apriciate the simplistic style. i like to keep things pretty loose for the most part, so i'm glad it's not a problem for you

Not sure if I like the rectangular brushstrokes, but I guess you're the artists here. Experiments are good. I need to do more of thoes myself personally.

yeah, i think the brush strokes work for the background, but not so much for the suit. but the whole thing is pretty rough. anyway, thanks for the feedback. i'll probably use a softer brush from now on. these experiments got me out of a bit of a rut, so i would definately suggest just dicking around now and then.
