Description
"Let's try a new technique for shading tonight!" I said. Aaaaaaand then the sun came up. #worthitSeriously though, can the artists seeing this give me some critique? I've never used a shading method like this before, so your thoughts on improving it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Keeping this short. I think the technique you have works very well for the most part. The light is casting correctly, and the shadows have correct contextual placement. my only two problems are that the shadows being cast on the pony himself are a bit too light. Some darker shadows all around would definitely make the piece look a bit more realistic, if that's what you're going for. As far as the pony Style, I think the light shadows are understandable, but could still use a bit more darkening. My other problem is the black outline, it deadens many of the colors tat would otherwise read as very vibrant. Perhaps a darker mix of their hair (not mane) color might suit the outline a bit better, but that is just a stylistic suggestion.
Overall I think it looks very nice, and it does line up with your style, however I believe the tweaks I've suggested could make it a bit stronger.

Darker shadows are a good idea, especially on the parts of the body farthest from the light. I'll give it a try and see what I can come up with!

Rarity : (Oh Darling! looks very looking good to me. Glow on his eyes make improvement looking of this draw. I like little disturbed the shadow on ground on his front hooves (but seems quite alright) and I was little confused to where the exact point of light source (maybe you need to just make 1 or two lightsource to make shadowing easier . overall I like everything. good job darling!)
