I'm shipping a non-canon couple...on a ship! Get it?? Yeah, I know, that was a terrible joke...It was inevitable to have Edgar quote Ash of the Evil Dead films, and I figured I needed to make Locke vomit in this scene. What better way to remind us of how dickish he is by having him react violently to what is otherwise a tender moment?

You know, that brings up an interesting query: Why isn't there a gun in Edgar's arsenal of tools? I mean, if we are to compare civilizations here (of which, FF6's is obviously of the steampunk variety), it's clear that in our world, the first functional firearms were invented well, well before the invention of the first viable steam-powered engines that we see implemented in trains and commercial seafaring vessels. Besides, if you watch the intro and ending FMVs to the PSX version of FF6, you can see imperial soldiers firing what clearly appear to be guns. So there is no friggin' reason Edgar should not have his own boomstick, dammit!
...Yeah, I tend to analyze the shit out of the FF universe.

It's all good 'cause I did come to that thought some time long ago. Square-Enix has this constant problem with making plotholes involving their games' battle system and plot setting (classic example: in FF7 Aeris dies, but why didn't anyone cast life??). I agree that if FF6 is meant to be a steampunk game that Edgar deserves a boomstick. However, like all Final Fantasy games S-E saw fit that people still deserve a chance at fair combat (ie. swords, knives, etc). That's still no excuse 'cause a boomstick or a BFG of some kind would well replace the useless air anchor!

I can easily imagine Edgar saying similar lines like Isaiah Mustafa in the Old Spice commercials.
