Description Here are the completed legs from my most recent digitigrade costume leg build.

The materials used to create these range from PVC Pipes, Wood, Metal Signs, parts of Window Frames, Hot Glue, Duct Tape, Masking Tape, Painters Tape, Electrical Tape, Nuts, Bolts, Washers, Wood Screws to Wire (12 gauge or 14 I don’t remember), Wash Towels, Yarn and Fake Fur.

Sorry, but I don’t have pictures of these without fur (I seem to have forgotten to take photos), but the detailed concept design/plan can be found here: [link] which shows a pretty good representation of what’s inside and their basic construction.

This is my most comfortable, light, and realistic build yet. Each leg weighing around 3 pounds. I weigh around 135 pounds and around 5ft 8inchs tall and as you can see I have quite a thin build. I haven’t measured myself while wearing the legs but I’m guessing they add a little over 1ft to my base height.

The legs look a bit odd without the padding on the back of the upper leg (Haven’t gotten there yet). I might remove a little from the foot length in the future as well.

How do these ones work i made a pair but there kind of big in proportion tot he rest of my costume giving the fact there about 15% oak wood thats 3 or 4 inches wide and 1 inch thick (there supra easy to walk in but i could never run or jump but there great for my first ever pair made in a day and a half) anyways want to make a new pair soon and wanted to know are these easy to move around in can you run and do you have a video your link in the description didn’t seem to work.

Are you doing commissions for these? Because I'm doing a realistic vaporeon fursuit and I want it to be as realistic as possible. So I hoped you could make me such feet with short seal fur and I have a drawing of the paws because the toes are a bit weird and they need like these kind of flippers between the toes, like Golduck has you know ^^ And pawpads ofcourse XD And if you do commissions for these, how much will they be?

Great looking stilts! I hope to build some for myself as well but they will need to be very strong cause I plan on running in mine which probably means I will have to use heavier materials... Keep us updated on this. Post a video when you get the chance.

Hi, I had come up with a simular concept to your drawing, I was wondering how difficult it is to walk with these in your opinion? Have you found discomfort after prolonged wear time or have you not worn them long enough to tell as of yet? I just wanted know what you though before I went attempting to build my own. ;D

Awesome job by the way, look great. ;D

I have a question about this on the design you used a bungee attached from the foot to the toe was that to keep the feet on the ground or something else and did you only use wires to keep them upright? I was studying your design notes and such but you never really explained what they where for.

Amazing Digilegs. I'm going to start working on a pair for myself, but I don't see them being as cool and slender as yours. XD I just need some more bungees and some T brackets. :3

I'm 5'5, 145lbs and plan to cosplay as a faun this Halloween. How is the balance on the legs? would I have to do some stilt-walking practice before walking around in the legs? Should I carry a walking stick with them? The place I live has a lot of hills. How briskly can you walk in them? What about stairs?

Excellent design. Sorry if I seem to have way too many questions.

Hah ha, well, it’s alright. I tried my best to put as much info as possible into the descriptions, but I'm sure I left something out somewhere. I really don’t expect everyone to read all the previous comments either, especially when we begin reaching multiple pages. So if it was left out I'd answer again if necessary.

This is pretty freak'n sweet . I've wanted to make some for a while but didn't like that they were so bulky. I'm in LOVE the sleeker design.

I would love to have a pair of these for a werewolf I plan on making in the future. A quick question. Is it hard to keep your balance and walk on different surfaces / uneven ground? Do you have problems with slipping?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCostumeArchive In reply to WhispersDreams [2011-05-08 20:32:17 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

To answer your questions, I have no professional training in stilt walking but I can still balance pretty well in these, I first had to get used to walking that way of course, using a walking stick to catch myself, but now I can walk without one if I want.

I've only walked on grass/dirt, carpet, and vinyl flooring so far and on those I had no problems, but given the nature of the material the paw pads are made; which is cut towels wrapped in duct-tape, I'm not sure how well they would work on really slippery surfaces. But if the paw pads where made from molded rubber which I hope to do at some point there would surly be no problem walking on any surface. The toes work almost exactly like the real animals, with a full range of movements, so that alone grabs the ground pretty well.
