Bulletstorm 2 – Level 4

After jailbreaking their equipment, the group were able to hack into the UPC’s Military network and obtain information about Serano’s itinerary and found out that he would be attending a graduation ceremony at a training base. So, they loaded up the ship and headed towards their base to begin their attack.

First, they hide the ship in the forest outside of the base, then, they needed to get some disguises. There was a small town built near the training base which provided food and recreation for the military base. In celebration for the newest batch of recruits graduating, they were holding a parade in town which included several full riot guards to maintain order, after staging a mugging and drawing some of the police away, Grey and Trishka were able to steal some riot gear and bluff their way onto the military base.

Working their way through the base they attempt to locate a high-powered rifle and a proper sniper’s nest so that they could line up a shot on Serano when he took the stage and gave his speech. All goes well, after ditching the riot gear and putting on a full military dress they gain access to the armory and sneak away with a few weapons, including a sniper rifle and a pair of tazers to knock out the guards as they worked towards the sniper’s nest.

While exploring, they come across a hanger containing a new prototype fighter jet that has a perfectly unobstructed view of the stage. They hide out, waiting for the parade to reach them, and then climb to the roof to line up their shot. They come very close to getting the shot off when they are suddenly attacked by Ishi who subdues them after a brief but violent exchange. Grey and Trishka later awaken in a military holding cell with Serano standing over the pair and gloating.

Because he’s an evil prick, he brags about his new “Metal Echo” program, how he’s intending to alter them to become obedient little cyborgs just like Ishi who will do whatever he asks without question. After he finally gets full up with torturing them, he finally leaves to secure transport for them off world. While they are still worrying about how they are going to escape, Willis, piloted by Dovewell, arrives on base and busts them out. The stealth mission continues, but only until they manage to get their hands on some weapons and just start tearing through the base until they chase Serano into the hanger with the prototype jet and he commandeers the vehicle to kill them.

Trishka and Grey try their best to shoot him down, helped by the fact that their battle with Ishi earlier had damaged the jet somewhat, but also have to contend with Ishi still trying to kill them. They finally manage to incapacitate Ishi by baiting Serano to attack them with some heavy ordinance that catches Ishi in the blast and disables his personal forcefield. The jet is later knocked out of the sky by Chuck who brings their ship over the base and rams it out of the air. Grey and Trishka search the wreckage for Serano and they do find him alive, slunk away into a new building and holding them off with an assault rifle.

They could have killed him, but his support had arrived, and staying long enough to kill the man would have meant dying. Trishka and Grey are willing to risk their lives, but not those of Chuck and Dovewell, so they run and get off planet before getting surrounded.

Author’s Note: I was going for a contrast with this one, the difference between an honorable warrior and the way Serano treats his people, melting away Ishi’s flesh and continuing to shoot him in a vain attempt to murder Grey and Trishka. Not exactly the most action packed level, but, also, not the finale.
