Description The NWR GD5's were goods diesels built by Crovan's Gate works in 1961-1965.

In 1960, the NWR had many goods clients popping up in the Depa region and the current fleet of utility diesels were not able to take the strain. So, The Fat Controller went to the designers at Crovan's Gate to see if they could come up with a new design of heavy goods diesel. The diesel had to have a light axle load, high tractive effort and the capability of pulling passenger trains if need be. The answer came in the form of the NWR GD5.

In 1961, the first one rolled out of Crovan's Gate and tested on Tidmouth region. The engine was extremely successful resulting in about 200 being built. Some of them were sent to other countries and continents due to there cheap maintenance and power. The Depa region did and still does greatly benefit by the building of these machines, so much so that some are named after the rich and famous of the region.

The one shown here is NWR D240 "Trudy" meaning "spear strength", which was also the name of a Sodor Olympian.

This is my first of many classes I will go in depth about, I hope you guys enjoy! Anyone can use these engines or trudy as long as you give credit to me for the idea and credit to Swiftwin4ds for parts of the sprite.

Credit for most of the sprite parts goes to Swiftwin4ds
