This is such a warm picture. Everything is so tranquil and both Ayumi and Harumi (hey, that rhymes) look very peaceful with one another. I love the background too - especially the fluffy, pink clouds. They go very well with the cherry blossoms.

hooray for friends, love the blur and glow effect with the drifting cherry blossoms, the blushing on the faces is faint enough to set a mood but not scream the tone, and the light shadows and moon convey an excellent sense of time. Excellent work, however proportions and contours of the heads could be adjusted to be more esthetically appealing.

The softness in your images gives them such a poster like quality which makes then look insanely professional. Not to mention that your art is so recognizable amongst the art of others. It's really something to admire.

Thanks! And I hate to say it, but the only real advice I can give on backgrounds is to practice. I guess using real life as a reference to practice might help too.

aww, girl love! and platonic too, yay! about the one with the purple hair--i dunno if it's the shape of her head or her hair style, but she looks very wide in the face, too wide to be natural. Other than that, very well done! You've improved so much since we first started exchanging comments. Thanks! And yeah, that's probably it. I remember exaggerating her hair to make it look like it's being affected by her friend's head, but when I inked it ink I must've forgot to draw the hair properly. I don't normally draw in all the details until I ink.
And while I can't guarantee my critique will be very useful, I'll definitely give it a go since you took the time for me.
