Description
Moments after the sun disappeared, we all could see the ridges of the Moons landscape, with the spectacular corona of the sun surrounding it.I've never seen such natural beauty in the sky before! I was humbled, knowing that this is perfect evidence that we are indeed part of a giant celestial system powered by the mighty forces of gravity.
I could not believe my eyes as we were enveloped in the shadow of Earth's only natural satellite.
Looking like a giant hole in the sky, the moon's shadow swept over the last region of the nation we were situated in, with its hands caressing the face of humanity gently yet harboring an awesome power!
Photo taken August 21st, 2017, on the coastline of South Carolina.

Absolutely terrific photo! I didn't have a camera decent enough to take a photo but I did get to see totality, in eastern Tennessee. It was humbling and mesmerizing. I am definitely going to try to see the next one in 2024 whatever it takes.

Oh wow, awesome! It was invigorating for me.
And thank you! This camera really surprises me sometimes. I really didn't think it would have came out THIS clearly.

I didn't see a partial eclispe or total. ._. I only saw a small dot cover the sun. Very disappointing.

What location on Earth were you at? It really depends on where you were standing on the globe to get a good look at it.
Would that small dot happen to be the International Space Station? It did make a transit across the sun while the eclipse was happening.

I was (and still am now) in the Middle part of Florida, closer to the south that is.

Huh, strange, it was an area with 90% coverage of the sun. You mean, you didn't even see the sun turn into a crescent at least?

That is probably one of the most beautiful sights ever seen in my natural life, even if I only saw a partial eclipse.
Let me ask you dude? As soon as the moon completely enveloped the Sun, and day seemingly became night....did you see any stars for a brief moment in the sky?

I honestly tried looking around for stars, but all I could really see clearly was the corona itself. It was the first time I've ever seen such a thing!
It was so beautiful how it sort of seemed to radiate out from behind the moon. This picture doesn't do justice, for it was much longer in length than what the camera caught, stretching for a distance across the sky.

Nice pic, but you do know that there will be another one in America at 2024?

Yes, I knew that well in advance, even though that's seven years from now.

I was in bed after a long visit to Carmel. That Car auction made traffic crazy.

Thank you! I heard it got a little bit dim over there and you could still see a crescent sun through the Eclipse Shades. That is indeed still pretty cool to see!

Thanks Iheart! I was on the coast of South Carolina when this happened. One of the last people in the U.S. to see it.

It was very interesting to watch. I, living in eastern sweden, had to do it on NASA/NatGeo's livestream. But it was fantastic nonetheless.
I'm currently waiting for the one in january that we can see from here ^^
