So if you guys don't know, The 2000 presidential election was highly controversial. Al Gore (Bill Clinton's vice president and the guy in the picture) ran against George W. Bush. Al Gore had 267 electoral votes, Bush had 246. Florida and it's 25 electoral votes would have given either the presidency. Florida was so close that automatic recounts had to take place. Bush and Gore fought it out in court, Mass protests sparked, and the recounts took place for a month. In early December 2000, The US Supreme Court made a highly controversial decision and voted 5-4 to stop the recounts dead in it's tracks. Bush at the time was ahead in Florida by just 537 votes. (5.9 million were cast in Florida) Therefore, Bush got 271 electoral votes and won the presidency. Al Gore won the popular vote nationwide by 547,000 votes. Making 2000 the third election in which the winner lost the popular vote but won the presidency.I made this in part of releasing his US presidents scorecard. Bush is one of his least favorite presidents. So, I made this in part to show how close Bush came to not being president. I based this meme on the conspiracy that Bush stole the election by bribing the courts to quit recounts while he was in the lead.

If Al Gore were president there wouldn’t be any Iraq War or 9/11 for that matter.

If Al Gore won his home state of Tennessee, Florida wouldn't have mattered at all.
