how do you get your prints to come out so clear. this isn't done by a special camera, is it?

I just scan them. I have a small scanner so I have ti tile the scan and put them together in Photoshop

What "adhesive" do you use to mount to the wood panel?
And congrats on the sweet Hi Fructose gig! That book is miles above the competition IMHO. Well deserved.

Thanks!
I use matte medium, works great but it takes some time to master. An even coat is causal

MikeHaff In reply to theirison [2013-04-03 23:42:54 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Very helpful. I generally use a thin paper and matte medium as well, then roll out any air bubbles with a soft ink roller. Just wanted to know if I was "barking up the wrong tree". Def gotta get out and see your stuff in person someday. Rock On.

theirison In reply to MikeHaff [2013-04-04 00:38:54 +0000 UTC]

I've actually never used a roller...
I use a palette knife
Ill try a roller next time! THX

All of these are fantastic!
If I'd would be interested in buying an original piece from you, how would I go about it? Wait for a gallery show and try to get in touch with the gallery owner? I live in Stockholm, Sweden, so it's not gonna be a case of swinging-by. Also, would you mind saying how much your recent pieces have gone for? PM me if you have the time and don't want to reply here. Thanks in advance!

great work. is this a composite photograph or a scan? if it is a scan,, what type of scanner are you using to scan something that big?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

theirison In reply to DMel87 [2013-04-03 19:03:52 +0000 UTC]

Its a scan, and its such a pain in the ass to do it like that.
I have a tine Epson. I scan it in piece by piece and tile it in Photoshop

I L-O-V-E this! I remember when you started adding these new elements and dimensions to your work not long ago... To me, it really feels like it's coming together now! I've noticed your new approach really working recently I love seeing your progression.

What did you paint those flat coloured shapes with? Acrylic? In my coloured project, I need to paint some pieces of wood in very flat colours - I wasn't sure if I should use acrylic or gouache, what would you recommend? Should I prime the pieces with emulsion first, or will they be fine as is?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

theirison In reply to swabloo [2013-04-02 22:35:35 +0000 UTC]

I would prime and I would use acrylic, especially for wood.
