Description
The Ponyta family, this family is known for their incredibly fast bursts of speeds. The Ponyta family is known for their high 'fight-or- flight' response. They will stand their ground however, if they are protecting their young. They also tend to be curious; when startled, they will often hesitate an instant to ascertain the cause of their fright, and may not always flee from something that they perceive as non-threatening.
Gestation lasts approximately 340 days, with an average range 320–370 days, and usually results in one foal; twins are rare. Ponytas and Rapidashes are a precocial species, and foals are capable of standing and running within a short time following birth. As a foal Ponytas are clumsy and slow. It will gradually learn it's footing in the first hour or so. In the first 48 hours it will be able to reach top speeds up to 50 mph. By the third week Ponytas can easily reach 90 mph. In about 18 months Ponytas can be capable of reproduction.
The Ponyta family is known to live around mountainous grasslands areas as well as plains and some forests. Their hooves are incredibly tough, known to be tougher than diamonds. In the mid-1970s poachers rampantly hunted Ponytas and Rapidashes for their hooves; dropping their population from 36 million to a staggering 12 million. In 1990, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species banned the sale of hooves. Their population has risen to about 56 million today.
Early archaeological evidence suggests that this species was once a Normal- type, but overtime evolved into a Fire-type to deal with the colder conditions in the wild at the time. Despite appearance, the flames on a Ponyta's and Rapidah's back aren't hot at all. Instead, it is lukewarm to the touch, and only reaches extreme temperatures when they feel endangered in a ‘fight or flight’ response.
Typically in about 4 years a wild Ponyta will evolve into Rapidash, their top speeds can increase up to 150 mph. The easiest way to differentiate a Rapidash from a Ponyta is to look for a horn on its forehead. Males tend to use their horns in fights with other males, over females. These fights can be very fatal at times; the loser would be lucky if it leaves with a missing and a couple of scars. The Ponyta family is very competitive by nature, chasing anything they see faster than it. This family can also be broken up into two distinctive groups hot-bloods and cold-bloods. However, these words have developed a separate meaning in the context of equine terminology, used to describe temperament, not body temperature. Hot-bloods exhibit more sensitivity and energy, while cold-bloods are quieter and calmer.

I love pokemon! The grass looks lovely- the variation in greens and highlights! The trees are a little uniform, varying the height would make it more realistic. I wouldn't change anything about the flames, they are lovely! the general lighting is also very mystical and lovely. There is something off of the anatomy of the faces, I think the noses are too wide in proportion to the face and eyes. Shading is nice though!

This is nice. You managed to put a lot of movement into the Pokemon, especially Yanma. The lighting looks beautiful, and I love the sparkles you added by the flames. The blades of grass you added in the foreground are a nice touch and give the piece dimension.

Why this painting looks gorgeous, you really know how to draw animals, I like how it seemingly looks like a real picture from the thumbnail, the only problem I have with this are the lightings, the fire mane on rapidash and ponyta doesn't glow thus it seems that it doesn't belong there also the sun looks too bright on the upper left as if it was near but other than that, this painting is gorgeous. Good job!

Drawing horses isn't easy, but you did quiel a good job, the one on the left in the back had a bit an odd face, but all in all they look good.
I like the composition in this one, the only thing that bothers me is that dragonfly-thing. It looks too cartoony and seems not to belong in the image.

I really like the dynamic feel of this picture. There's a real sense of movement. You've clearly used reference for the horses, which is always a good idea.
I've no complaints about the composition, but the texturing could be improved. Now most of the texturing is for the grass, which is hardly the center of interest in this picture. Try introducing more texture to the horses, and also avoid using soft brushed since they give you a result that is too smooth.
You can also try to harmonize the colors you are using. I see you have warm highlights, but the shadows are neutral black. Try using cold colors in your shadows. Also the god rays in the top left corner are cold even though you've used warm light everywhere.
For painting more realistic fire you could try collecting reference photos of real fire.

I love this, it's so realistic as opposed to the cartoonish Pokemon. The background is gorgeous as well(: I love the sunlight streaks in the top left corner.

I actually thought this was a photomanipulated picture, which isn't. Great job! I love how each individual Pokemon is posed and the Yanma is a nice touch! Love the movement of the background and the depth of the grass.

Personally, I don't believe this should have taken as long as nineteen hours. It seems like a lot of work was put into it, but not enough for nineteen hours. Perhaps seeking information about technique to make your time more worth-while?
I believe it's too blurry, and you should work on re defining your edges to make them clearer. The mountain in the background is also too blurry and the viewer can't make out that there's trees in there.
The little insect in the middle of the picture doesn't fit, and I could barely make out that it was an insect at all. I think you did an excellent job with the atmosphere though, and that this is your strongest point.
The sparks form the flames are also excellent ~ you did wonderful work there.

Most of the time I'm playing around with how the composition is going to be laid out. Once i like the composition then I usually draw the creatures in poses.
The hardest part for me is always the backgrounds. I used a reference landscape picture for the background, and it's actually becomes blurry as it goes into the background. It could be the level of focus applied when the camera took the picture, but I'll keep that in mind for future things.
Thanks for the feedback I appreciate!

Great job on the info, it was very descriptive and caught my attention. I like the one in front, as I find as it looks the best. That extra steam coming from the nose is very nice. The grass and environment are done very well. The other three ponytas could use some improvement. Their foreheads looks awkward to me. Other then that, great work.

Lol. Yeah I try to make it so that there is at least 1 pokemon that you have to search for in the background in all of my pokemon planet pics.

OH WOW!
First of all the art reminds me of that movie Spirit. The Yanma mimicking the eagle.
Second, the details in that info!! Whoa!! I love it!
Third, I love the background! It's blurred just enough to seem like it could be moving, but clear enough to tell what it is~
Great job!!
