Okay, I really have to get this off my chest...I despise it when people think they're making people quiet down and being responsible by going, "Shhhhh!" at them. Because really, if you just shut your trap and didn't say anything, the world would be that much quieter.
Argh. People are such hypocrites. So here's my plea: Next time you have the urge to shush some peer for being loud and obnoxious, just don't. You're making it worse.
...Should I move this back to scraps?

No, seriously, though. I get what you mean. Sometimes people are like SHHHH!!!! and I just so very much to ask, "Hey, you got a leak?"
I have, on the other hand, a perfect understanding of when the situation is appropriate. I have a friend who always wants to start a conversation in the middle of all my favorite TV shows, and it's either let her flap her gums through all the stuff I really really want to hear or shush her and make noise for three seconds and then be done. I usually go for shushing.

But really, some people NEED to be shushed cause they're being rude and don't realize it cause they get carried away and then you can't hear whatever you're trying to listen to. It's better to try to quiet something down if whatever you're listening to is important than being passive and letting the rudey's go blah blah blah all the way through and you miss whatever was important that you wanted to hear.

True, I suppose. I just happen to find it extremely annoying. If everyone just didn't speak, we wouldn't have a need for that, right? Of course, I guess we don't live in a perfect world, though, so there's always gonna be somebody breaking the rules and talking XP
