Sort of a character trade thing for JustSomeoneWhoDraws
The Gobbler is a representation of depression. It's movements are slow and sluggish, but this hefty sack of goop doesn't need to be fast for them to swallow you whole. This is what occurs when their host is going through a period of depression- they're being 'digested'. The person doesn't physically break apart and become consumed, but their energy, their mind, and their emotional state is.

Things always seem to be situational for the timing of when the host is eaten. Maybe the host didn't know it was there, had angered or agitated it, or... someone pushed them into the Gobbler's throat. Regardless, they're more than likely to find a way to suck you in at one point or another. If they don't, the fear of death isn't such an unreasonable thing for them.

Although their intent and character seems purely malicious, there are times when this creature is docile and... manageable. Sometimes they're just, there. Either waiting, or simply lying about as if a pet. It can sometimes be apparent that their desire to feed on you is purely of survival or animal instinct. And in some, this even triggers pity. They will allow themselves to be consumed by the beast because "they just want to live".
