Some might be aware, looking into my gallery that there's a lack of pony related things;
Just, in all, I got sick of it. I've not watched the show since Starlight was introduced as a main character, whatever season that was. Maybe it was depression hitting at that time, maybe I just didn't like that direction of the show.
I'm tired of dealing with 'bronies' who think Love and Tolerance means I should give out free art to them cause it's the nice thing to do, and then be harassed with people making alternate accounts to subvert a ban when I tell them no five times. Got tired with people in the fandom in general. Some still even hounded me at the start of this year after not talking with them for like, 6 years or something? Some stupid grudges are held for too long for me to care about candy colored horses actively.
I'm sick of my art being stolen to promote chinese bootleg bullshit, and even having those knockoffs featured on prominent pony sites like EQD with no link to my shit. Tired of being told at least bi-monthly that my stuff was found somewhere without my permission. I minded, yes, when my art was used without permission but I got to see a lot of people, especially with that "EQG Cafeteria Background" one I did be used to show off some neat OCs. They were the good ones.
The bad ones were those that copied my poses, or traced my stuff and used them for point adopts, or in commissions. No, your first time using MS paint skills weren't enough to hide the fact you copypasted a pony and made it cyan.
I even had some of my work taken by big names in this fandom, but oops I guess since you made Luna smile or duplicated one of Sunset's legs I wouldn't be able to tell that was mine, hope that pony website loved using stolen art as their banner and the money you probably got paid for it.
So in the end, I'm jaded. This was once a fun part of my life, I sang the songs, I did art. I did pretty well with crystal ponies and still to this day got compliments on them. I took pride that if you googled, "Crystal [Pony]", one of my vectors was one of the first google image results.
But that just in the end, made it easier to steal. Fuck me for believing in people being good 100% of the time.
If you want pony art, I'll gladly take the commission. I love bringing people's characters to life, and making that twinkle in their eye, or making the wings plumage angle just so. To have horns sparkle with magic or just to make them smile, so it reflects the smile the commissioner has when they see their work in full color.
I just don't feel a desire to do it anymore otherwise.

Well when it's your art on the back of bootleg rip-offs they don't link back or bother to look for the original.
And their twitter banner has been using an edited version of my sunset shimmer vector I made way back when she was first shown and I never made that banner.

That, and my vector had the error of the hair on her shoulder not having an extra curl, which that image copies perfectly as well, even though it's a mistake.

No offense, but I think no one really have the time to dig up thousands of image to find the source of an artwork that was stolen for knock-off merchandise. If there is anyone to blame, it's those who stole your art, not EQD. They probably get hundred of submittions each day, spending hours to find the original source for one stolen artwork is just a waste of time. That is sad but true.
As for the banner, afaik they mostly use banners made by fans and each time they use a new one they always credit the artist. In this case, the one who made the banner probably used your vector for the banner and EQD just gave credit to that person thinking they did all the work. The one made the banner either did use your vector on purpose, or they just used one of the good looking Google results thinking that it was cropped out of the show.
I am not trying to attack you or saying your art isn't worth the effort or anything. But you gotta think for the EQD staffs. They are just news reporters. They use the credit provided by submitters and cannot check the legitimacy of every single submit they get each day.

Oh I wasn't trying to imply that every single piece gets credit, just crap like that has happened with my artwork so many times that it just kept getting more and more aggrivating, especially when posted on places like that that have the potential to get hundreds off views and the like.
I still though believe it eqd's fault not to verify that for the banner maker and I discovered my art was used after the fact. But at this point it's just more pony bullshit drama I don't want to bother dealing with.

That sucks a lot that people treated you that way. Your vector art was some of the best around and I absolutely loved it all. It's a real shame it's all gone now, aside from what I downloaded and favorited. I personally will always despise any artist's decisions to nuke their artwork off the site. Brony musicians were notorious for that practice and it made me so angry when such good music was just gone overnight without warning.
While I understand, I personally cannot agree with the decision to delete your submissions. I know many stole and traced your art, but many more just enjoyed viewing it and seeing it. I myself loved your Equestria Girls vectors and was always inspired to do more vector art because of it.
In the end, I can't change it, only voice my opinion, but I do hope you at least have it saved. You should feel pride in your art, even if the fandom ruined it for you. They were spectacular vectors, and so inspiring. I'm just glad I got a chance to see it and download some of it before it all vanished.

All the art is in storage with the "Manage Deviations" options here; maybe one day they'll return but I just wasn't feeling it anymore. I apologize there was no warning in removing it.
But after just another kick in the pants of having another instance something I drew, not pieced together from bits of the show, be used on bootleg art, I had enough. I'm tired of my work being used like that and people telling me 'Your art is good enough to steal' , I'm just so, so tired. Always good enough to steal, never enough to get it legit.
It does make me happy though to know that people loved it as much as I at the time enjoyed creating it--like I said above, I love doing every sparkle of an eye, or every curve of a feather on a wing and the happiness it brought to others.

Some people will never have the artistic train in them, despite all their effort. I myself have a hard time accepting that when it comes to my 3D art, but it's just a fact. I will never be as good as some of my idols. I myself will never be as good as your vector art, mainly because you have the ability to draw and I do not.
I do hope one day it can come back, after all the drama has passed. I imagine after this show, your harassers will disappear pretty fast. Maybe then it can come back and all of your wonderful art can be enjoyed again.
I'm sorry for my differing opinion. I just do not enjoy seeing good art being removed without warning and being lost. I do hope things work out for you ShadowStone. I do look forward to seeing what new art you have in store though. You'll always have me as a fan. I love your stuff, especially your vector work.

No, by all means have a differing opinion! I wrestled with this choice for a while, being honest. I'd thought of just nuking everything the last time my vectors got lifted for some pony merch bootlegs, and this time was just, "no I just need to put a bookmark in this chapter and maybe come back to it later in life", like you've suggested.
Again, it's not all lost just in storage. Most of my stuff's still on Dbooru and I'm not authorizing anything there be taken down. What's out there, is out there, just the source material's hidden for now.

Best choice, really. If something was too much of a bother and weighted you down too much, go with the latter that helps and best suits you. Even if it involved severing away at submissions that was made years ago. If rules wont adhere to your rule, then it's your choice to do whatever it is needed to be done since you were the one to have made it.
At this point, the whole brony thing has become somewhat stale and bland BUT lived happily in its moments under the sun. Yes, it was a very good run. Yes, there has been some excellent and memorable times. But it is not something that will die at all or be forgotten. It will always be as good as it is and keep it that way as you carry on to do other things for yourself.
If you feel the need to move on. Then do it. That is all fine and is actually encouraged. Move forward to advance. Not stick around and not grow at all. Stick that still alive stick into the ground and watch it branch out. Best progression it can be.
