Hi TinyWild~

Happy Holidays!
I'm pushing myself towards greater abstraction, so I'm so happy you not only picked up on it but also like it even!
How have you been doing lately?

Happy holidays!

I'm fond of abstract details in paintings, but also in real life, like spots on leaves, cracks on a wall, branches in the sky...

I'm not so active now on deviantART. I don't find as many artists whith original styles as the previous years.
There are many artists with a comics or manga style. I like that, but I also look for more half-abstract art.

Hi TinyWild!
Bonne année I hope you had a lovely time~

I can see your fondness for abstraction in nature from the kind of photos you take.
You seem to be particularly drawn to the small details that of quiet things we can easily overlook in favor of the more flamboyant--
it's a sensibility that I appreciate

I think DA is such a popular and wide-reaching platform that it sometimes can be difficult to find art that you like when you have to sift through such a vast quantity of work, so I understand the frustration.
I've learnt to find new artists by looking through the favorites folder of the artists I like, or by checking out the featured in groups.

Have you read anything interesting recently? Any wishes you hope to fulfill this year?
I got my hands on a poetry book that I'm excited for-- an anthology of 365 Chinese poems throughout history, one for each year.

Take care!

Looking through the favourites of deviants who have the same taste as mine is always interesting, and I also like to click on "more like this" when I see a picture that I like... but I also still try to find unknown artists whose paintings are not in many favourites!

Books! I do have read interesting books recently! In August I decided to always have a book to read everyday. and I do have read about fifteen books since then, alternatively in French and In English. At least this is one good resolution that I took...and kept!

I found sites on internet where I find reviews of many books from many readers, LibraryThing and goodreads, in English, and Babelio, in French. it's so great, because I didn't know before how to find books that I would like. I discovered that one genre that I appreciate is called urban fantasy, where supernatural events and characters are found in real cities. It's not very intellectual, but entertaining... and I like this idea to find touches of mystery in everyday life.

I thought about you and one of your painting when I read one of these books. This is a book written by a french writer, Romain d'huissier, entitled "Les 81 Frères" (The 81 brothers). The main character is a taoist exorcist, and the story takes place in Hong Kong. What reminded me your work is that the hero is seen several time making an offering or praying a goodess named Tin Hau. At first I wasn't sure, but I realised that Tin Hau is the cantonese name of of the goddess Mazu. In one very nice chapter, The hero places the soul of a little girl under the protection of the goddess, after telling her the story of Lin Moniang. And I know that it's probably not a coincidence if the author described the little girl by the sea, and wearing a red dress...

Hi Tinywild!

Wow, kudos for you for sticking to a resolution!
Fifteen books is no small feat~
and even if the books aren't "intellectual,"
the fantasy backdrop of those stories are inspiring your imagination,
and we all need to be able to spot a bit of magic in our daily routines to spice up life just a touch
It saddens me when I meet people who think that non-fiction books are more important than fiction books
because they deem the former as being grounded in facts and the latter in fancy,
but I think non-fiction and fiction books just nurture the mind and soul in different ways,
and sometimes there is more penetrating insight and "truth" found in stories.

I've started reading six different books simultaneously, and it's made me a faster reader, strangely enough.

Hahaha! What a delightful surprise that  you unexpectedly ended up reading a story about Mazu~

Best wishes for you!
