If you've seen TTTE Wikia's latest poll about which secondary character would people like to see less of, some people voted Duck. Despite all of the fans begging HIT for wanting him back, they now don't want to see him that much in the series. To me Duck is a good character and yes it was nice seeing him in the series again despite him going on and on about 'The Great Western way', but aren't the fans pleased to have him back? Plus the new writers of the series might flesh out his character more. If there's one secondary character I would I like to see less it's Rocky. Rocky is absolutely pointless and is more used as a plot device like the breakdown crane prior to his debut in 2006. He was in the series for no reason just a marketing character at the time before the new characters were more like characters.Related content

Most of the voters who don't want him were the Emily fans who got butthurt from that scene from the slip coaches episode

If you're going to act like typical Duck fanboy then fine. Because if Duck were the 8th steam team member then feminists wouldn't be pleased. Besides Duck was only brought back because of fans wanting him back despite that he's only fit for secondary role.

Okay firstly, I'm not a fanboy, secondly I know why he was kicked out off the series in the first place, and thirdly what I ment was that Emily's fanbase took that scene way too seriously as it was just an injoke that no one outside of the Thomas fanbase would get, I asumed that you were allready aware of that

I am but it can't be the majority of Emily fans, I hardly seen any in the comments for the episode and I get annoyed when it comes to Duck fanboys fawning themselves when it comes to one of the most overrated characters in the show. Duck is a good character but there are better ones out there, heck Emily's more better, with Brenner giving her the big sister role in TOTB. Plus I hate it as well when Duck fans took that little in joke seriously that some might've lost their sanity, so it can't always be Emily fans. Though I like Emily I'm not into her heavily.

The way I see it, reactions towards Duck have changed since he isn't anything like what we know him for. Anytime he's appeared other than that Henry and Hiro episode he's obnoxiously and pointlessly said ''There are 2 ways of doing things etc etc'' to the point where the writers seem to think that's all they can do with him,

I think people voted to not have Duck appear as much is to probably drive his fanboys up the wall. You know, as an example: those who call an episode automatically the best episode ever simply because he or another fan-favorite character's in it. -_-

Voting to see less of the returning characters does surprise me a bit as well. Just voting to see less of them doesn't stop the fanboys from going crazy about everything, even one second appearances of their faves in an episode.
Yea, most people voted for Charlie to get off the set by far. I'd honestly get Rocky off less...Is he really only the breakdown crane available??? -_- He's honestly just there to serve nothing but clear up messes for the engines. He might've had a few roles other than just cleaning up, but still. In my opinion, Charlie has improved a bit, but he's still not a great character by no means. If only his jokes can be funny for once...

Charlie has improved in season 17 and that's a big relief to me, I just wished the his jokes were more funny so that I could get aΒ snicker out of it, I mean Edward's joke worked. Spencer had the second most votes even though he finally developed in Season 18. Rocky is basically the Breakdown Train with a face and painted red with yellow stripes. By the way, if Rocky is the only breakdown crane, what happened to the Breakdown Train?

We have no clue about that Breakdown Train. Probably retired because the show wanted an anthropomorphic breakdown train instead. How come no information was given on why Rocky came to the island in the first place? Oh, because his debut is in that wretched atrocity "Edward Strikes Out". The writing in S9-S16 was lazy (and it's not just Miller's writing at fault) to where new characters were shoved in without notice, many of them then taken to the merchandising club sadly, like Rocky himself. Another question is...What if there was an accident that occurred at the same time as another in different locations, and they both required a breakdown train???
As for Spencer, as much as I find him a jerk, I did really like "Spencer's VIP". It was where he had a bit of a softer side, having remorse for that matter. Β
