Sonic and Amy found themselves in that very situation with that Cockroach on Shadow, napping on the couch, and they dare not to move a muscle if it crawls away too fast, but Sonic wanted to kill it anyway and it might wake Shadow if he hits him accidentally hard and Shadow might give Sonic a bad jab.
