I am a fan. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

But anyway. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="

I love the composition. There's a real serenity about this. My personal taste in art is saying "Hmmm. I think I would have cropped that in a bit tighter, or strengthened the color saturation (I'm a sucker for tight images and awesome colors)", but I think you made exactly the right choice for this piece. I don't know what changing the color or the framing would have done, so I don't know if it would altered the feel of scene. If you chose the composition for that reason, nicely done! If it was by gut instinct or accident, first of all, I am jealous of your skill, and second, I would harness that for future pieces. The emotion and message of a particular piece can really push it forward, so I would definitely suggest making sure that you do that intentionally.
Being a martial artist, I am also a huge fan of the poses. I can completely relate with the student. Master is in the zone, leading through a form, and I cannot for the life of me remember what comes next, so I'll awkwardly watch them and figure it out as I go along (this is where my teacher would normally say "KEEP YOUR EYES ON YOUR OPPONENT!" Eh. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="
" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title="
(Wink)"/> I love the way that the Master's pose is confident, relaxed, and perfectly intentional, compared to the mostly-right-but-I'm-really-not-sure-what-i'm-doing of the student. Hm, where have I seen that before?
Side note that realy doesn't have anything to do with your artistic skill.... Why is the Master's belt white? I know martial arts are different, but as far as I know, all belt systems begin with the white belt as the you-have-no-idea-what-you're-doing-and-you-just-bought-this-from-WalMart. My martial art of choice, kenpo, uses the black gi, but that doesn'lt affect our belt rankings. Technically, you aren't allowed to even student-teach a class until you are a green (fifth) belt. Just a random question...
Overall, I love this to pieces. Nice lighting, nice poses, nice composition. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

Thank you very much for your critique
The bleached colors are intentional, i wanted the picture to have a very soft and mellow feeling, thus why i added the grain, to make sharp edges and the colors appear even smoother in the yellowish, warm light i used for the picture
For the framing i basically started with the Rule of Third and placed the Master and student accordingly, the rest was just some trial and error until i thought everything worked and looked right.
At first i wanted to zoom in some more on the Master and student, but showing more of the architecture and scenery seemed to work better.
As for the belt... to be true, i've just done it for artistic purpose.
Even though i think there are martial arts that use white belts for ceremonial purposes, i just did it to have something to contrast the black gi, otherwise it felt like there is to much black on the Master and the whole clothing just looked like one big muddy, black spot
I hope the inaccuracy is acceptable

Aaahh. I see your point. Aesthetically, the white belt pops really well, and it really compliments the whole scene. (To be honest, it went so well with the rest of the piece that I didn't realize it was technically the wrong color. And when I did notice, it was more of a head-tilt "oh hey" as opposed to a table-flip of rage. You're the artist here! She can have whatever belt she wants.)
And you are very welcome! I enjoyed writing it.

Vision, great. Their expressions and poses transmit quiet, focus and yet, for the student, struggle. The choice of light and environment, also, create a very "daily training" atmosphere, giiving to the general picture a natural appereance.
Originality: because of the points expressed above, this portrayal results different from the most part of the pictures depicting martial arts, there's no violence intended, just meditation and focus on the art itself.
technique and impact: the environment lools almost too big, this distracts the observer from the figures, a bit of DoF, that drags the attention on the two ladies, would give a stronger impact.
Great job. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="

Thank you
The two figures not being the main attraction of the picture is actually "working as intended" ^^
I wanted them to appear more like just a part of the whole scenery instead of being the center of attention.
In one of my next pictures i'll try to shift the focus more on the characters that will be showing, i hope it works quite as well ^^

No, not at all, please leave it as is
It's always good to know what other people think about an image, why they think it works, works not or how they think it would work better

I like the lighting of your scene. Looking at it gives me the impression of an early morning with master and student. I like the way the shadows play in the scene and the expression on her face is spot on --I'm assuming the lady in black is the master. The set casts all the right shadows and everything seems lifelike. The only thing I would put to you as needing attention, is the perspective. Your camera angle is too generic. You've basically got a straight on shot, and you're not using perspective to your advantage in order to bring out what you want.
I would do this --set up four or five different cameras at different perspectives. Take the picture from each perspective like a top-down shot, a bottom-up shot, a top-down left and right shots, and bottom up left and right shots. Put them in a slide show and look at them all in turn and select the one that you feel evokes the emotion you're trying to convey the best. That's about the only thing I can think of when I look at this picture. The rest is excellent work, I think.

Thank you for your critique
My first choice was actually a more bottom up camera angle ^^
I wanted the camera to be close above water level, but i couldn't get it to work to my satisfaction, so i settled for a rather standard camera angle.
If time allows i might try a few other angles and do a rerender, i think you are right and a more interesting angle might add to the piece.

I really like the scene overall and the small detail of the student watching the master
