A concept for my graphic novel, Blue.

The Elim (also known as Observant Pairs) are universal spectators. Their job is to experience all life in the universe and report back to the gods. They basically allow the gods to be omniscient. They're simultaneously everywhere and everyone at once. They operate in twos, so if one Elim is being you, its mate/brother/sister/whatever is being someone who is close to you or meant to be close to you. They can never live their own lives, so they have to seek each other out in each new life they live; they aren't supposed to control you, but their desire to be close to their second half occasionally overcomes their better judgment, which explains why sometimes you fall for someone you shouldn't.

They're ageless, and have been with each other so long that they can sense when the other is close by. There are limitless Elim, and their job is never over as long as there is life in the universe.

This particular incarnation/appearance is sort of Blue's own mental conception of how they might look, and when they appear to her in one of her dreams this is the form they take.
