Why would you shave off her hair?!

So that her helmet can fit on lol.

She never had a problem with her helmet before... :\

I know. And it makes zero sense logically. Ideally someone wearing power armour would be better off with shorter hair.

Her powersuit is made up of semi-intelligent nanobots that rapidly assemble around her by force of will. I'm certain it has the means to account for her hair.

But by that logic the nanobots SHOULD be accounting for her hair, but are not doing so. If they were conforming to Samus' shape the helmet would be jutting out the back due to her hair being usually tied up, but the helmet is very much spherical as it's always been to form around a typical human skull. Physics would logically not allow her ponytail to continue to exist within the helmet due to it's shape. Now maybe if the suit could somehow magically untie her hair every time her helmet is regenerated then maybe you could get away with it.

I was never a fan of that aspect of the suit to be honest.. I get that it's been around in-game for a long time but the way Other M had to canonise it on such a level instead of it just being a game-specific mechanic for the sake of fluidity is bothersome. Then again Other M is generally bothersome lol.

I didn't say it conformed to her shape, I said it formed around her. Samus' armor is most certainly not form-fitting.
Now, I'm sure you've seen it before, but take a good look at the ol' cutaway. As you can see, that helmet is not at all tiny; it expands a good bit to either side past her head. As it is spherical, as you've said, and assuming the visor is reasonably close to her face, that leaves a lot of room in the back. Enough for, say, an 18-24" ponytail. Given the way the suit forms, the ponytail could extend down her back or be curled up at the back of her helmet; either way, it should fit.

Plenty of people in real life have long hair and use helmets regularly ^^

Nicely done doing this! Yeah for reals! A suggestion and a question. Have you thought about doing cross hatching shading?

I have done crosshatch shading in the past. Think it's something I should try out again?
