Description In the early days, when I started to understand that I may be able to create some really neat pictures, I had my sources for inspiration and motivation. Like everyone who is trying to get somewhere in a certain field I guess. There was and still is a guy I look up to. Even if we kinda lost contact. The guy I'm talking about is Gary Tonge. A long time ago he did a piece that I always wanted to pay homage to. That piece was 'Sentinel '. No detail where is doesn't need to be. Well and nice packaged. Simple and good. Yes, my version is very different. But still... the creative spark came from Gary Tonge's Sentinel.

Fantastic work (as always)! I suppose the landscape is a render? But the waterfall, is that painted or rendered? I've been trying to get a good rendered waterfall myself, you see, without success, and if Vue can do this, I might have to finally switch from Bryce.

The waterfall is textures and painting with photoshop. Vue now has a particlesystem but I don't have too much experience with it and what I know tells me that my machine cannot handle it properly. Particle stuff takes ages to get right as well as to render. Much like the clouds in Vue.

Thanks for the reply. Waterfall looks incredible, by the way, but I guess I'm sticking with Bryce, at least for now (it also takes ages to render clouds, especially now that I have a much slower machine than previously, as my rig went and died completely on me).

Aw that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Yeah, I had my time with bryce too. A loooooong time ago. Still have some renders in my gallery somewhere. Nice tool for some abstract pics.

Thanks... Yeah, it sucks. Can't even play Portal 2 anymore (though the new Tomb Raider actually runs on it, which is small comfort). I actually like Bryce a lot, despite its limitations. It could be because I actually know how to use it, and am too old to learn a new tool.

The new tomb raider but no portal 2 (loved that one!)?Β  Strange machine you have there.

I know, right? Now, I haven't actually tried running Portal 2, I just ran the specs. And then Steam had a sale on all Tomb Raider titles...
