Description
In the early days, when I started to understand that I may be able to create some really neat pictures, I had my sources for inspiration and motivation. Like everyone who is trying to get somewhere in a certain field I guess. There was and still is a guy I look up to. Even if we kinda lost contact. The guy I'm talking about is Gary Tonge. A long time ago he did a piece that I always wanted to pay homage to. That piece was 'Sentinel '. No detail where is doesn't need to be. Well and nice packaged. Simple and good. Yes, my version is very different. But still... the creative spark came from Gary Tonge's Sentinel.6000x2715 - Worldmachine - Vue - Photoshop

Details can be a difficult thing. Overdoing them eats a lot of time and often enough no one will ever notice them. But hey... for a print it can certainly make the difference.
Thanks for the feedback!

Wow... as an artist who is just really starting to learn the possibilities of what for me is a new art form, your art has a scope and a depth to it that is inspiring. Thanks for sharing it!

I can see how this piece has been inspired by the Sentinel painting.
The refined detail with the strong light/shadow edges is what I believe draws the viewer in.
The two characters on the bottom right also add good scale.

Yup, that's the only reason why these two guys are standing there... to give the impression of scale. Poor guys.

Fantastic work. You definitely captured the previous piece well and added your own feel to it.

This looks really good. I'm actually most impressed with how realistic the stalactites came out. I've tried making those using pointy upside-down terrains but somehow always fell a bit short of the real thing. The colours are great too!

What I do is to create a terrain that contains the mountain shapesΒ I have in mind and then use the terrain zones feature to separate the parts I think could work. For this one I actually reused a part from a previous pic and adjusted it to my needs. It's not the most amazing way to go for it but it does the job.
