Description I must say right away that I don't like November - this dull, colorless month. But I also must admit that there is some bewitching charm in it. November seems like a completely mystical season, when everything around us is washed out by rains and for a while we can see a truelly strange world. And the fog only adds mysticism. )))
----

0oo I love foggy mornings like this, one could get the feeling that at any moment a lost ghostly army may pop up thru the fog still solemnly marching to their fate of many many years past

yes I agree Til that late autumn could be dull in color compared with early autumn but sit and soak it all in especially when the sun breaks thru the fog if you look hard there is still a lot of color albeit mostly browns and burnt reds with spots of greens and yellows mixed with a blue sky is still rather beautiful I feel , to me its the sickly grey one see's during winter and after the snow melts where everything just looks so dirty this is the time I personally  dislike the most ...then little by little spring slowly begins to brings life anew with a bursting of colors  and the itch of love especially for the young

awesome misty capture my nice friend

oh my mistake I just assumed it was morning and not afternoon haha silly me all I needed to do was check your camera's time taken info which was 2:48 pm as I said silly me  haha so yes it was a very gray day indeed, that does sound depressive having mostly grey November days, I can see why you dislike it so much...its different here our Novembers do have some gray days but we also have some very sunny days,  like this past weekend Saturday was very sunny with much higher than normal temps tho today to gray with drizzle and its only about 40 f outside ...

na sleduyushchey nedele v chetverg my otmechayem Den' blagodareniya, prazdnik, kotoryy voskhodit k pervym kolonistam, priyekhavshim syuda iz Anglii v nachale 1620-kh godov, kogda oni, palomniki, budut blagodarit' Boga za obil'nyy urozhay, a zatem ustraivat' prazdnik, chtoby otprazdnovat' ikh khorosheye budushcheye. YA schitayu, chto v Rossii yest' analogichnyy den' dlya prazdnovaniya khoroshego urozhaya, da? net? moy dorogoy drug

i hope my Russian is readable I had to redo it several times haha

been happily thinking of ya Til Til my nice friend

yes I agree daylight savings time ended here on the first Sunday in November  ao now we are in the dark by 4 pm and yes that really sucks  some politicians have floated the idea of opting out of eastern standard time and moving to Atlantic standard time giving us an extra hour of sunlight , but we would need to get at least 2other New England states to move with us plus get permission from congress which is not an easy thing to do, if it happened we would join 3 Canadian providences that are already on Atlantic time Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia no other US states are on Atlantic time so I doubt that it will ever happen here ....so you guys are far enough north to be in the land of the midnight sun .., you must get to see the aurora borealis then, yes? we never see that here, shoot because we have cities like Boston new york new haven Hartford Springfield and Bridgeport our night sky is so polluted with ambient light from all these cites we cannot even see a proper night sky that our great grandparents got to see, just some stars planets and the moon ,someday I need to get out to the deserts of the southwest or out in the middle of the oceans where you can still see a very full bright n colorful night sky

I must clear the story of my family Til Til  they did not arrive on the mayflower they arrived about a year later on the HMS Elizabeth my forefather arrived with his wife 14 children and about 20 indentured servants to help build a home start a farm and also build a building for his business , he was a shoemaker by trade ..and opened up one of the first Cobbler shops in New England at the time , tho image the original native American Indians were not good customers   unless he also made moccasins

nationally unity day was this a holiday created after the 1917 revolution ? what was the true meaning of the day?.. you know we celebrate July 4th as independence day  ...many here have yard party drink and eat allot but the true meaning of the day is ignored by most they just look at it as a day off from work but they do like fireworks haha, memorial day and veterans day it is the same just a day off ...its a shame cause it feels like every generation loses is a bit more of the true meanings ...

so you like Halloween tho haha thats great well if you think about it all hallows eve has been a European day of celebrations of fear for centuries , if i'm not mistaken (something that happens quite often haha) it was really a religious day at first being a day that the lost souls of the dead will be allowed to roam the earth or something like that haha

oh that was a mistake on my part when I cut-n-pasted the Russian text to here on DA I acdently dragged  the romanized Russian along with it and sadly I was so tired I just said the heck with it lol..  ..please forgive my laziness, my dear friend

i wish you a great week full of joy and happiness oh have you started your Xmas shopping yet?      hope to hear from and talk with you again my lovely friend

Hello, Paul!
I finally done with my big work project and now I could answer you!
I always read your 'letters' ('cos they are like real letters for me, you know?) with true delight! You write so interesting, really  Your family story is impressive! Do you have ancient photos of your ancestors?

About winter/summer time moving - we had it switching for a long time, but in 2010 our goverment cancelled it. I think it's a big mistake! Now we have sunsets at 4 p.m. at winters and sunrises at 3 a.m. at summers.  We can't live like cows! ((((

so you guys are far enough north to be in the land of the midnight sun .., you must get to see the aurora borealis then, yes?
No, in Moscow you can't see neither midnight sun nor aurora borealises. But in St. Petersburg white nights are regular. And when I went camping on the Kola Peninsula, I saw real white nights, when the sun did not set over the horizon at all, and sky was alight all time. I still hope to see auroras in Finland (I go to Finland every New Year' holidays).

someday I need to get out to the deserts of the southwest or out in the middle of the oceans where you can still see a very full bright n colorful night sky
Oh, I saw starry night in Utah desert, it was so beatiful. The sky seemed to breathe.

nationally unity day was this a holiday created after the 1917 revolution ? what was the true meaning of the day?..
It's really complicated!  At first we had other holiday at 7th of November - The Great Revolution Day.  After the collapse of the USSR this holiday was canceled, but many people celebrated it out of habit. And everyone got used to it as a day off. The authorities decided to come up with a new holiday instead of 7th of November, but they could not find a suitable excuse. And as a result they took a conditional date - the liberation of Moscow from the Poles in 1612. The authorities came up with a date, they came up with a stupid name and now they are painfully trying to make us fall in love with this holiday. And nobody cares!  I must to say I never like 7th of November but new holiday is just ridiculus      And I agree with you that now people see holidays only like days off - and it's really sad...

No, I'm indifferent to Christian Halloween - I prefer the paganic Samhain. )))

have you started your Xmas shopping yet?
Of course! )))) In Russia we have the proverb "Get your sleigh ready in summer and your cart in winter". So I already bought alot of presents... in summer!    But this weekend my friends and I will go to big 'Art of doll' exibition where I'll hope to buy remaining gifts. And what about you?
