Description
since deviant art thinks my stuff doesnt fall under costumes I will add this to 3d art which it is 3 dementional (in real life) under objects (because it is an object) and weapons (because it is one) I think I made my case, so dont move it!!!!first of all This is a commission peice...
I made this out of cardboard like always its very sturdy, a replica from halo, as Im sure thats obvious to most people, it took about 8 hours total. used hot glue leds and paint and laquer.

Wow, you are truly an artist if I've ever seen one, I have been inpired recently to make a cardboard costume or just a prop for a costume out of cardboard but always shyed away from it for the fear of it lookng bad/not holding up, so that being said...
Just wondering how do you make the cardboard so sturdy? Do you use multiple layers or do you just use so much paint the cardboard becomes extra stiff,

I do use lots of layers and fill in every hole with hotglue but I'm sure woodglue would work to, it really holds up in props like the assault rifle, but in costumes unless its done right you may be doing a lot of repairs at convention time. one thing you can do is fiberglass the inside of the cardboard that will make it last and be more sturdy but in the long run. you will want to start figureing out how to make things out of plastic

oh my bad I thought you were talking about the helmet the AR is just card board and you need hot glue and paint and led a lot cheaper than the helmet I didn't even look to see what you were commenting about sorry

TIMECON In reply to HaloGoddess1 [2008-05-06 13:44:27 +0000 UTC]
its not that expensive Ill give you the price list
cardstock paper, 5.99 for 25 sheets
pepakura program, free download it. look up on google
print helmet pieces, fold all lines and use hot glue to put together
hot glue pack of 100 4.99 walmart and hotglue gun 5.99
once complete use either fiberglass jelly/resin same price 11.00 walmart, along with cloth 5.99 walmart for the inside, then bondo 11.00 at walmart for the outside and a lot of sanding, sand paper 3 different grids 1.49 per grid 5 pieces in a pack. thats how much for the basic helmet the part that gets expensive is if you want to mold it but you dont have to make copies if your only making one

It would be some time until I ever get around to that. I would need the material to make one and the L.E.D lights. Right now I can't afford to buy the material I would need to make it.

Very well crafted. The ammo counter and the compass both point to incredible attention to detail. Just curious . . . does the mag eject, or no?
