Description A redesign suggested by Rockinamber18

For those of you who didn't know I did make set for Masked Daisy to make her return in a future episode of Mario and Luigi the Mask, however some thought her character design was a bit bland for her first appearance so I decided to redesign her.

Rockinamber18 suggested I put her in those shocking clothes you see from the 80's that everyone used to wear, the colourful ones that clashed together. After a little research and some back and forth between myself and Amber she came up with this redesign that gets across the craziness of the character but also her attention grab-y attitude.

This is only my interpretation of what she made, her original sketch is here mandlthemaskfanclub.deviantart…

Hope you guys like her when she makes her relaunch in a future episode of the show.

Cheers

Big Head...or Green Thunder Daisy kind of reminds me of Toni Basil in the Hey Mickey music video.

It's a good picture but sorry I highly doubt a Daisy Mask would look anything like that at all.

The Mask or what its supposed to turn its wearer into is supposed to be a projection of a persons subconscious and I don't see anything in this design which says 'Daisy's subconscious' to me, it just feels far too 'girly girl' to be Daisy.

In psychological terms this doesn't come across as an embodiment of Daisy's ID, more like an amplification of a girls ego. This design might work for someone like Peach who has that mindset or maybe even Pauline, but given Daisy's character I highly doubt the Mask would turn her into this.

Daisy is more of a Tomboy type girl whom I imagine is probably only wearing a princess dress because she feels she has to due to her 'Princess' status and has to uphold it. So being a Tomboy I highly doubt her deep down subconscious alter ego once freed from the constraints of her own Kingdom will want to dress in such 'girly girl' outfit. She'll want to be different from all the others, in a more rebellious outfit rather than fall into the fold of trying to be a pretty 'girly girl'

But no offence, that's just how the Mask works in the TV series, movies and comics and I always try to follow what is cannon. Dorian from the movie is a good example, though not a girl but when he puts the Mask on he doesn't become a super sexy playboy that girls will swoon over. It turns him into a representation of whats in his subconscious and that's of an horrific, ugly monster.

Not that I'm suggesting that's what Daisy would turn into but everyone's different and the Mask would reflect that.

Honestly I'd see Daisy more in a sports outfit or something which shows off her rebellious Tomboy side rather than her girly girl side.

Cheers

But this Outfit matches Daisy Personally not really.

Daisy`s inner self is of course no girly girl but she isn`t an 80`s punk or an rebell too. She is more an like an Crazy type but this should not make her extreme ugly. She`s still an Princess when she wears the Mask but of course an Crazy Princess but she is still beautiful when she wears the Mask.

I personally think Daisy would look better like this: or

But thats my taste of Daisy wearing the Mask.

And by the way are you planning to let Peach wearing the Mask anytime?

If you do so i had some suggestions for her Outfit:

But i think you don`t like them either.

I my opinion if the female wearer of the mask is an good Person then the mask enhances the beauty. But if the female wearer is an Bad Person the mask shows the ugly side of the wearer.

Well with Daisy's Mask I want it to reflect her soul searching. In chapter 11 I've established that shes unsure of herself, if she is who she wants to be, shes confused about who she is and that's what I've got with Daisy/Mask. The 80's were a very unsure period where I think the world was trying to figure out its new identity, in some places they'd never had it so good and so the population when bizzerk with fashion, design and the like, this is what this incarnation reflects, its the start of that.

So now each time she puts the Mask on she'll be a different kind of person which mimics Daisy's soul searching journey, the closer Daisy gets to finding herself the more I'm planning her Mask character to better reflect Daisy totally as a person.

--

"I my opinion if the female wearer of the mask is an good Person then the mask enhances the beauty. But if the female wearer is an Bad Person the mask shows the ugly side of the wearer."

Now please understand that I'm not trying to belittle you here for what you think, but unfortunately I'll never adopt that idea into Mario and Luigi: The Mask because there is a flaw with it. The Mask has never worked like that in any official incarnation its been in.

I know you mean well by sharing your designs but honestly I don't see any of them as the type of character the Mask would turn any one of them into as I feel they all miss the darker points that are so central to the Masks function.

It's a tool of ultimate mischief, not a magic talisman with a double standard where only someone with pure of heart and good intentions can wear it and be good and pretty. The Mask doesn't discriminate at all, it wipes the slate clean no matter what and brings forth a caricature of the wearer. The Mask doesn't care about what sort of person you are, whether male, female, good or evil, you're just fair game.

There has never been an instance where a good, female person has worn the Mask and it has enhanced their beauty by it, its just never happened, so why suppose that it does?

If you look at Eve in season 1 of the Mask cartoon or even Peggy when she wore the Mask, if you match their faces to Stanley's Mask you'll see its exactly the same facial configuration just with hair and lipstick. Then look at other official she masks from the comics, Cathy from the original comics for example was just the Big Head mask with a pony tail sticking out of her head.

Comic BigHead Mask steppingonpoint.files.wordpres…
Comic Cathy mask www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…
Cartoon Ipkiss Mask www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…
Cartoon Peggy Mask www.google.co.uk/search?q=the+…
Cartoon Eve Mask www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…

So if anything the Mask seems to give a "default head" to plenty of people.

None of the official she masks are very pretty (Compared to the 2 designs of Daisy Mask to the official SheMasks I'm already stretching the cannon as it is) and these are 3 girls, Eve, Peggy and Cathy were good people in many respects and yet the Mask showed no mercy to them in terms of their appearance because the Mask was never designed to be a beauty aid, its a dark object designed to make people do things they wouldn't otherwise do and give them an appearance that is both to unnerve and scare people. But then that is how the Mask gets its claws into you, it tricks you into thinking it can grant you something good, like turning a girl into a sex goddess when in reality its about to bite you in the backside the moment you put it on. That is the trap and curse of the Mask, you never know what you're going to get with it because you'd think 'all that power you must be able to do something to fix yourself' but then there's the next part of the Mask. It makes you delusional. Any Mask character who looks in the mirror often sees its somewhat unnerving or hideous reflection and thinks its reflection is gorgeous.

So what it brings out isn't just the darker or even grayer elements of a personality, it also makes that personality somewhat delusional about plenty of things, including its own appearance.

--

Now what I'm trying to do with Mario and Luigi: The Mask is follow the cannon of the Mask which was set down by the comic, movie and TV show. I know a lot of people were disappointed that Daisy's Mask wasn't a drop dead gorgeous sex goddess, but honestly that was never the point of the Mask and it certainly isn't the point of Daisy's Mask persona, her meaning runs far more deeper than just the prosthetic.

Its more about that if you look at even the most pretty, good looking and saintly person you're going to find something in their soul that is either freaky to you or will take you aback. No ones soul is "perfect" mostly because perfect is a subjective idea based on a persons opinion not a thing in itself, there is always something ugly about anyone if you look deeply enough, and the Mask reaches into a persons psyche and allows those flaws or hidden personality traits to bubble up to the surface.

Each Mask I've designed takes this into account. Only with Daisy I've started her personality from an unsure princess and I'm slowly letting her personality evolve into the full Tomboy Daisy we are familiar with and the Mask reflects what state of change shes in. But at the end of it Daisy/Mask will still NOT be a drop dead gorgeous sex goddess, because that was never the point or lesson the Mask is supposed to teach.

Cheers

Sorry but this text is too long to Read.

And i dont tell you that you must transform Daisy into an Sex godess but  this new design has nothing to do with Daisy anymore becase there is no match.

If you reference to Eve or Peggy then you should see that Eve and Peggy even have parts on her Body that are not altered by the mask and so we can Recognize them as Evelyn or Peggy. But this Design of Daisy has nothing to do with the original Daisy and i dont see even one piece of Daisy in it.

If you do an Peach please make her at least Recognizeable.

Sorry but this text is too long to Read.

I'm sorry you said that, because all the mistakes you've just made you could've avoided.

And i dont tell you that you must transform Daisy into an Sex godess but  this new design has nothing to do with Daisy anymore becase there is no match.

And if you took the time to read what I've written above you'd understand why that statement is void.

Also, really, because the words "She is more an like an Crazy type but this should not make her extreme ugly. She`s still an Princess when she wears the Mask but of course an Crazy Princess but she is still beautiful when she wears the Mask."

Kind of implies you think my version of Daisy Mask should be chucked out in preference to something akin to your designs you are suggesting which is an attempt to make her pretty in the face and sexy, and as I have described above that is NEVER how the Mask has ever worked in any official cannon. It has never produced a pretty female Mask no matter what incarnation of it you look at.

If you reference to Eve or Peggy then you should see that Eve and Peggy even have parts on her Body that are not altered by the mask and so we can Recognize them as Evelyn or Peggy.

I'm sorry but that is totally wrong, Peggy and Eve don't always look the same in their mask counterparts. Eve for example her height alters as does her build and shoulders to the point where you can't tell one from the other, there's really nothing that makes you think there is a connection between them unless you are told before hand.

Eve Unmasked www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…
Eve Masked vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/t…

Even Peggy, if you see here as soon as she changes her clothes she's unrecognisable unless you knew before hand that the characters were one and the same.

Peggy Unmasked www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…
Peggy Masked  www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…

In the episode in question Peggy even ditches her red hair leaving her with a balled head, further distancing herself from her original Peggy self to the point where you can't tell who she is at all. (I can't find the image but its in the episode, its the bit where she's wearing the wedding dress and tries to marry Kellaway)

In fact, why stick with just the females, even the male Masks don't always look like their counterparts, as Ipkiss and his counter part don't.

The Mask www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…
Ipkiss www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl…

So the Mask creature that's created doesn't have to look anything like the counterpart at all or look like the person they came from.

But this Design of Daisy has nothing to do with the original Daisy and i dont see even one piece of Daisy in it.

And as I've just demonstrated there is hardly an ounce of Eve or Peggy in their Masked personas either, ESPECIALLY once they change out of their usual clothes and get into something they feel more comfortable in they're totally unrecognisable.

Also FYI, did you not notice that Masked Daisy's face shape and body shape are in the same proportions to that of her in game counterpart? That makes her more like her unmasked counterpart than the Eve Mask was and at least above par with the Peggys Mask as Peggy's mask doesn't even retain her own face.

If you do an Peach please make her at least Recognizeable.

I make no such promise, because this is my project not yours and I will develop the characters as I see fit and the Mask will work the way it has done in the movies, comics and cartoons.
