Did he "stoned" her or Celestia just got to the magic level LIFE ?Β

She was turned to stone so she could be around when Spike got old as well.

In the original story, Rarity had herself petrified before old age stole her beauty, and then the century began to catch up with her VERY quickly, so now I'm left wondering why her statue form was herself at her prime.

Simply because it was in Celestia's power to make her look like that. I took inspiration from the concept of the statue but deviated in the execution of it.

As Rarity knew that she was in her final days her husband, Spike, asked Celestia to preserve Rarity as she was. Celestia agreed and asked him why he had decided to do so.
Spike: I wish to be there with her on our final days. When it is my time I ask that you free her so that we may be together as we become the stars in Princess Luna's night sky.
Celestia nodded in acknowledgement and did so.
Celestia: I will tell my sister to wait until you are ready to move on Spike.
She smiled softly at her friend and gave him a final hug.
Celestia: I await your letter my friend.
Spike: Until then Prin- Celestia.
And so on the day that Spike sent Celestia the letter telling her that he was ready, she told Luna that it was time and gave her sister a few moments to collect herself.
Luna: I will be there soon sister.
Celestia: Take all the time you need Luna. I know that it will be difficult to say goodbye to someone we have known for so long.
Luna nodded and waited until her sister left before crying her heart out.

Rarity was nearing her end of long before Spike. So, I suppose they agreed to find a way to both die together; hence Rarity was encased and preserved in stone just before she died.

She was stoned younger though! She'd never let herself spend thousands of years on display all wrinkly.

So many questions to be had at such a great love story.

This reminds me of the Doctor Who Christmas Carol with one lover frozen in time because she is going to die soon while the other grows old.Β

I read a story once with similiar ending. But it was about two robots
