Description
I really enjoy capturing fleeting moments of people just as they realise they're being taken. That completely natural look they have on their face shows that split second of pure innocence before they realise they were being taken unaware. Here's a kid who was helping his dad pump the bicycle tyres before a casual cycling event.

This is a lovely piece. While the conception and emotion captured here are absolutely dynamite, it's difficult to critique a spontaneous portrait for one particular reason: the composition, at times, can be very poor. While this isn't a horrible composition, the wheels on the left side of the picture are very distracting. They almost take away from the little boy's face, creating a strange dynamic between him and the bicycle. But overall, I think the emotive and expressive qualities of the image win out over the composition. Plus, since this was taken in a 'fleeting moment', as you said, I would say it's a very good capture overall.
Also, the lighting behind the boy could perhaps be toned down a bit--the glare on the light-colored car is a tad distracting as well. But I do love this piece, don't get me wrong. Spontaneous photography is a true art. Keep it up! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

I'm not really a street person
Or rather, I haven't really been making a lot of street shots lately to be able to judge one

Breath-taking... It's like watching someone else's memory. Oddly, this little boy very closely resembles my boyfriend when he was small. He and I grew up in a rough part of the city when we were kids. Thinking back now, I was the one who was always getting my bikes stolen.
And years later, he told me he used to steal bikes with his big brother.
Who knows? He probably ended up with mine.
XD
But this picture. Ha. It looks him in that moment where he contemplates taking the bike or not-
he asks himself, "should I?"
