Description **UPDATE: In my haste to show off I sort of just slapped together the original image. I thought Id put a little more effort in to displaying it. Hope this brings it together a bit more.

Here's something I'm extra proud to present. I had a little time off a few weeks ago so I was actually able to sit down and draw a little for myself....a rare treat. I'm rusty as all hell but had a lot of fun trying to shake a little of that off.

What you see here are 6 separate drawings that I threw together in to this haphazard montage. They weren't drawn with the intent of having them in the same image but I wanted to see how they played off of one another just for fun.

By far, the coolest aspect of these pieces is that my dear friend, Sean Galloway, a.k.a CHEEKS
did the colors!!!! I am Sean's biggest fan and his work obviously has a big influence on my own. To have him help me with these was beyond awesome. As far as I'm concerned, everything that's cool here is as a result of what he did. He brought them to life.

I'm currently trying to put together a nice art book in which these will be featured separately along with many others. Ill keep you posted on when that will be. I really hope you guys dig!

Hes a character from Gatchaman. It was called Battle of the Planets in the U.S. in the 70's.

Battle of the Planets was just about the most kick-ass cartoon ever. Looked forward to it every day after school. The first thing I ever learned how to draw was their ship and the Phoenix. Many a school text book was filled with that ship.

At the time it was off the hook. Sandy Frank productions Americanized the Gatchaman show in the early 70's. They took out most of the real violence and put in crappy fillers. It wasnt until I was a teenager that I even knew there was a real Japanese version of the series. In the mid 90's they came out with an updated Gatchaman movie that is ABSOLUTELY INSANELY FANTASTIC! If youre a fan of anime, I implore you, buy it. Theyre currently working a new animated Gatchaman movie that is looking like its going to set a new bar in anime. I think its by some of the folks that worked on the TMNT animated movie from a couple of years ago. Do yourself a favor and check out the 90's movie when you can.

I love the original... I get a real warm nostalgic feeling thinking bout it!

And man! Are you ever right... the updated stuff was Massively cool! I'm feeling the need to dig it out now.

Great piece Tim!! I particularly dig your take on Batman. Keep us posted about the book.

Gatchaman was a BIG part of my childhood. Tim is spot on about seeing the original versions. If possible avoid the version that ran on TBS. The voice work and sound tracks were all replaced and were just terrible.

That is correct! Let me know what you think. Also, do a search here on DA for that name. Youll see a lot of fun art by others.
