One most days Arlie has the appearance of an extroverted, friendly, and fun person. Unless you're very good friends with them, this isn't usually the case. Their bright and flashy sense of style has nothing to do with their actual personality, which is shy and anti-social at best. They enjoy making friends but have found it hard to connect with anyone up until now. It's possible to have a conversation with them, but it'll be short and full of small talk unless you can bring up something that really excites them. This hasn't been a problem, exactly. They enjoy alone time, though, maybe not a ton of it...

They are sensitive and will shut others out if they need to brood alone. This doesn't last very long if you know how to cheer them up. They get back on their feet very quickly.

They were both photographers for a local modeling company and had a very busy work schedule, so Arlie was always coming along for the ride. They met plenty of nice models while their mom and dad worked and the experience inspired them. They wanted to wear fancy clothes, CUTE clothes that the female models always wore.
Everyone thought it was adorable at first. Why not let the kid wear whatever they wanted! They thought it was a phase, but Arlie never lost interest in their childish sense of style. Their parents commented on it every now and then, but were mainly passive on the matter. "That's okay, honey. Aren't you just... gay?"

They kept asking them if they were transgender or not, because surely there wasn't any other option! No, Arlie was genderfluid, or genderflux, and they found themselves switching from nonbinary to binary genders all the time. Nothing else fit, they were sure of this. Their parents seemed alright with the idea that they weren't cis, but they would refuse to call them by any other pronouns. "Pick 'he' or 'she' or we'll just assume you haven't decided yet. You have all the time in the world to figure it out." The words that were meant to be reassuring were taken more as an insult.

Angry, Arlie distanced themself from their family and stopped talking about their gender. If they couldn't take them seriously because of how they dressed and what they identified as, then they didn't need to hear about it anymore! In fact, no one did. Arlie couldn't keep friends for more than a few weeks at a time, they always preferred to stay away... It was just too awkward. People approached them all the time because they looked nice, they looked pretty and fun to be around. However, they seemed to realize something after being rejected so many times by the maned wolf that never seemed to want to hang out or help anyone else. "You have a real bitter personality, Arlie. Maybe come back when you know how to give people a chance to get to know you," someone said, and Arlie could never forget it.

So that was it. They could play the role of "angsty lgbt+ teen that no one understands" if society wanted them to.

Even so... even so, they didn't want to leave their family. They wanted to wait and find friends that would actually understand and listen to them.

“Hello to all of my citizens in The Western Summer. I have a very important announcement that you should not ignore. I will be rounding up some of our citizens to go on a very important journey. No need to be alarmed, but some of our non-conforming residents here are lacking in some vital education, so my men and women will be helping them.”

When Arlie was ripped from their home by LoomLake police, they burst out into tears and struggled with all their might. They were tall, but skinny also frail. Hardly a problem for authorities to handle. Screaming for mommy and daddy wasn't going to make the police go any easier on them, though they tried. It was the first time they had really, really wanted their parents to help them in years. The couple tried to reassure their child that nothing bad was going to happen, it was just a vacation! The king would take care of them all, but right now they had to stop fighting!

Arlie was scared, more scared than they've ever been in their entire life. Guns pushed them into a car and soon, they boarded the train.

They were alone, facing away from the other passengers as they watched the passing scenery outside the window. Completely silent, they had no idea how to process the situation at hand. One thing on their mind, though, was that they wished they had brought better clothes, or something else special to remember their family...

Literally no one gave a good response to his question. Unforgivable. “You're all dead,” the voice stated bluntly. He spoke as if they pitied these fools with every ounce of his nonexistent soul. It was fairly believable. “You died in the middle of a battle and got sent to the realm between Dreamscape heaven and hell for judgement. Are you prepared?” There was a long silence and the voice started up again, paired up with with typewriter noises as words appeared on one of the blank white walls of the room.
“Well, judgement started. List: players going to hell.
Number 1: hell hounds. Sorry buddy, it's in the name. Number 2: Anyone with a mask. Too suspicious. You're working for the devil. Number 3: anyone with a face. Oops, I'm sorry, it seems you're all going to hell! Judgement ended.”
The computerized voice faded away and all of the words typed on the wall disappeared too, replaced by the bloody names of every player in the room. Giving them all a moment to take in their feelings of dread, the stranger was generous enough to offer a deal. “If you don't want to be transported to the void in the next five seconds, say 'I' and raise both your hands in the air (if you have them) and maybe wave them like ya just don't care. (Except you do.)”

As the ruler of the land, this was upsetting ENEF greatly. Or it would, if he could think straight right now. Just like the rest of the area, he was glitching out like crazy. His thoughts were all jumbled up and making him teleport to random places, blinking in and out of view with a frustrated growl. “I—ca—CAN'T—BE—leave!—THIS!” His voice cracked and fluctuated in volume uncontrollably, as if the individual words were recordings that belonged to different sentences he had said before. “WHO—is—d—DOING—THIS?” He trembled, shutting his eyes as blue and orange pixels spun around him and dropped onto the ground, then repeated on loop for several seconds. The Database felt like it was having earthquakes every minute—bad ones that would make any normal person lose their balance and fall on their ass. ENEF would not do that. He would, however, lay down on top of this giant white box and hold his head with both paws as if his mind was going to burst, and it sure felt like it would. The riddler was too busy grinding his teeth in pain to notice that he had accidentally summoned a player right beside him. Understandable, considering he couldn't control himself at all right now.
