Description Another short story before I go to bed! Well...not exactly a story, but more like a recounting of events! And an introduction of new characters. Or more likely...old made new again.

----------------------------

Prince Alan the Tyrannosaurus

To put it simple, Alan had always known that there was something VERY wrong with his father.

He supposes his father had been a great ruler. But he can't remember when. Because as long as he'd known him, King Cretaceous had been besmirching the name of his own father and predecessor to the throne, King Maastricht. His main issue is the fact that ever since the last World War, which had extensively used Saurials and dinosaurs as soldiers, he had gained an unreasonable xenophobia towards all other races of Cauldron. So much so that despite all of the laws banning outsiders he sets up, people seldom enforce them anymore, due to knowing their King is not in the right mind. Even LESS so when his paranoia had led to him becoming corrupt, whether it be taking bribes to raise carnivorous species on the social ladder, to developing defense technology while neglecting intellectual establishments entirely.

So him being a corrupt, paranoiac ruler was no secret. However...he had almost been assassinated. By some lowly herbivore beggar, of all people! He had noticed, the public's view on him was turning outright resentful. Even the carnivores who constantly bribed him held no love for him in their hearts. And he had started to become afraid that one would try to kill him for the throne. Why...he even feared his own son. But he would not let death take him so easily!

Not when he could use the power of the dead against his enemies. So...he had done something atrocious.

Cretaceous had hired a former Necromancer of the Elvish Empire. So that he may gain a spell that will increase his strength and longevity, by absorbing dead matter. Specifically, bones. This led to him desecrating an entire graveyard of wartime veterans, to graft their bones onto himself. The more he gathered, the more he became covered in some seeping, black, sticky tar. And the more he became powerful, with a red hot glow within his body

This is what is known as Tarring Day.

It was only a matter of time before he outright MURDERED someone to test his power. Two Parasaurolophus medics, who had been gruesomely mauled to death by Cretaceous gone mad. And afterwards, their bones were removed, and grafted onto him.

Alan was naturally...HORRIFIED at all of this. However, he remembers seeing someone who might offer a solution.

-----------------------------

"You refuse? Well, suit yourself.

I simply figured, with your civilization being so poor at advancing technologically, and having such a stigma against magic, they might need a little extra help from a third party. A little extra point of view to teach them how to further their society, and grow as a people just a LITTLE faster than this. After all, do not forget...I do not seek domination, but merely a balance.

Your people need balance, but they do not have it. Which is why...I'll still be available if you have second thoughts.

Write this symbol down in times of strife!

DO remember to call me when you need me."

-----------------------------

Now was that time. But did he even have a way of fixing this mess?! His father murder even more people for their bones if he was not stopped soon!

FWWOOOSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!

"Lord Styx Speaking.

Ahh, there you are, Prince! I knew you'd call back sooner or later."

"Huff...huff...Mr. Styx, we need your help over here, NOW!! I'm sorry I refused your offer to merge earlier on, but my dad...he's gone nuts! Even more so than usual! I mean he made this deal with this elf, and he got this weird magic thing--a-and he's been absorbing bones from the graveyard, and I saw him start murdering people, and--"

"PRINCE ALAN."

"GULP!

"Please, speak clearly. I know there is a problem, but I cannot help you if I don't understand what you're saying. Now. Let's try it again, shall we?"

"O-okay....my dad made a deal with some High Elf, and had a thaumaturgical ritual performed on him."

"Alright."

"Now he can gain power by absorbing bones. And it looks like it's making him into some kind of tar monster."

"Yes?"

"I saw him kill two Parasaurolophus medics, and take their bones out of their body."

"Disgusting. Go on."

"And...and I don't know what to do. If we have to put him down like an animal, or de-corrupt him, or something! And even after that, I don't know if I can be a King. Not now...everyone will hate me because of my father..."

"Will they now? I say the way to gain the favor of the people is by SHOWING them you favor their safety first and foremost. And your father is actively slaughtering his own people. Whether or not we allow him to live will be up to you. But there's no denying, there'll be no one left to command and guide the Kingdom. Not a soul!"

"...wait...is this a bid by you to annex the Saurian Kingdom into your Shadow Empire thing?"

"Excellent idea, Alan! I'm glad you thought of it~!"

"...no, no, come on Styx! You can't just do that with them! It...it won't stick! The Saurian people just...don't catch on like that."

"Ahh, but they WILL. Because as I may have said before, your people need balance to thrive. Right now they don't have it. Things stay the same for too long, and they rely on archaic knowledge to push themselves forward. Even though they are slow to pick up magic, that's no excuse for them to leave it out of their society.

Which is why in absorbing the Saurian Kingdom into the Shadow Collective, there will be a societal, magical, and technological boon for the Saurial. As well as an opportunity to catch up to the rest of the world. If you refuse? Well...you simply miss out on simple and clean solutions for the MANY problems your Kingdom is having now. Especially considering how much additional damage your father has done already."

"And if the Gizmo Guild come to help out? What will you do then?"

"Heheheh...whoever said that we were competing for each other? Last time I checked, the Gizmo Guild has no desire to annex Kingdoms. They're simply after technology. They are allowed to pitch in help, and even lay claim as heroes. However, if you decide to allow the Shadow Kingdom to contribute to remedying your Kingdom's strife...we will be sure to have plenty to give your people afterwards. As a welcoming gift to their new future.

Well...?

Will you leave the Saurian Kingdom in good hands?"

"...yes...do what you have to do."

"So I shall."

SNAP

"Come along fellows! I have shown you knowledge and truths from many other Kingdoms across Cauldron.

And the time has come for you to use it."

Oooohh, nice to see something more around King Cretaceous and a new Saurial character, Alan

I find the whole idea of necromancy and eating- erm, absorbing bones on a Tyrannosaurus character cool,
as they actually COULD eat bones

And do I see it right? I can't believe my eyes!

It's Not just Snipe and Kore, but also Hardhat being shown here, wooo~!

If you won't mind, let me share something around them even if I do not develop these OCs anymore:

- I realized that with my love to Nanosaur game which partially inspired Snipe,
I confirmed (at least in my mind) that he belonged to that universe and was raised
by carnivores that wanted to oppose the main villains of Nanonaus game.
Kinda like a continuity for the the main playable raptor character from Nanosaur
and a backup/supporter for pterosaur playable character from Nanosaur 2

(basically, in these games, there's some technology within dinosaurs even if we
haven't seen their civiliation and they're not humanoid, but whatever.
Time travell is present here and the player has to save the eggs, to me an alegory(?)
to save future generations )

- Hardhat is well aware of how his kind is seen; as dull and stupid, relying on technology
only to fill their dull lives and keep them away from boredom, as well as being very stubborn
and always thinking they know it-all on their own, actually making themselves
as idiots....yet Hardhat is a smart geek that not only catches up with technology fast,
but was born to be an enthusiastic and pretty sociable genius, but he doesn't preen on that.

Rather, he tends to play silly for fun.

So, the prince has a magical/technological sentient dinosaur kill squad.

…that's neat.

Great idea! Showing the Saurial Prince others of his kind who DID accept his help will work wonders! He can't argue with results and if these individuals show promise, then Prince Alan will be convinced that he can make the rest of the kingdom into individuals like them. Heroes of the people FROM the people.

Marina's Necromancy would likely work by using it in traditional ways only at appropriate times and on appropriate corpses. Think of it like this: Some warlord ravages farmland in a foreign kingdom but dies by the end of the war. His body is buried in a poorly-tended grave outside his ruined castle as his people try to forget the stain he left on their history. Marina needs help from an army and one battle-tested warrior to lead them. The warlord and his army (with the permission of the people) are made her undead minions and led into battle. She has a valiant general to strategize for them and she manipulates them per his orders. She just took someone horrible in life and made them atone to their people in death and gave the soldier another chance to defend their country rather than send more live people to war. When it is all done, she makes them march home victoriously. Ad they go back to their graves heroes. She thanks them all for their service and wishes them a peaceful rest. The families who had deceased loved ones fighting without their knowledge or consent(the people would vote as a society whether or not to let their dead fight again.) are given a small monetary offering as an apology for any perceived desecration. It may not be much, but it is the knowledge that they are being compensated that should mean much more to them. THAT is how Marina Laveau does the Dark Arts for justice.
