Description
Before it's time for me to head to see the lawyers with my grandma (nothing dangerous or anything. We just need her to sign some papers) wanted to leave you this...one of the most important races Cauldron has ever witnessed.I know there's a lot I didn't cover here, so I'll probably write more when I get home. Hopefully that won't be too long.
So for now...enjoy what's there.
EDIT: NOW WE HAVE SOME....
----------------------
MORE FACTS:
- From the start, Hypnos favored the High Elves, his own race, above all others. He knew what a particularly arrogant people they were, so he heavily promoted Elvish Superiority to them. It was his manipulation that had their whole race play into his hands, to commit some of the worst atrocities the Empire has known, in the name of promoting the High Elves only.
He begun to grow a very deep hatred of other Elvish races for attempting to stay equals with the High Elves.
- Contrary to what many thing, the High Elves DIDN'T support his rule the whole time. He lost a lot of his former popularity by tricking his army into rounding up the Beast Elves, Snow Elves, Desert Elves and Aquatic Elves. He told them they'd be placed into slums as lower class citizens while their homes were renovated for High Elf interests. Instead...he killed them all. Sacrificing them to perform the Diminishing Spell on the Deep Elves.
- He lost even more favor by employing a secret police to keep his subjects in check. This had forced his hand, as he begun to enslave even High Elves for daring to stand up this his ideals. Such was his tyranny that many High Elves, even those not enslaved, had begun to perform covert operations against Hypnos to avoid being associated with his evil.
- Lord Hypnos was eventually killed. By a Dark Lord. The only one existing in that era, who had caught him attempting to procure demonic power when he had all but lost his rule.
- When the Elvish Empire had fallen...so did Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil and its Branch Kingdoms are no more, and the High Elves are effectively homeless.
- Things were really terrible for the High Elves for a while. They had no Kingdom, and were displaced. Many ended up working as indentured servants, ordered to pay back the havoc they wrought on the world with labor. Many Elvish slaves died from diseases or from overwork. Many of their children became orphans. Their currency became worthless. Elvish art and artifacts were destroyed by those who saw it as propaganda. And numerous trials held against their leaders, and the atrocities they committed, had dealt great shame to the High Elves.
- However...it was the help of the new alliance of races, such as the Birdfolk, Humans, Dwarves and others, who had prevented intolerance and unjust crimes from being thrust onto those truly innocent. ESPECIALLY the Birdfolk.
Those still supporting the Empire's ideals are vastly outnumbered by those who were grateful for a second chance, and are still atoning for the sins of their former Empire to this day.
- The High Elves had not yet found a new Kingdom to truly call home. However, their people had managed to get by nonetheless, as scholars, artists, craftsmen, and other creative minds. It is admittedly a far cry from their royal roots, but their calling had become making things that were beautiful. In some way or another.
It could be said that sometimes, High Elves even tend to get quite snobby about their trade.
Just like old times.

...not quite.
The Star Elves are all gone, yes. Vanished in one starry night. But are they extinct?
Not by a long-shot.
Without getting into spoilers, let's say they went somewhere...better.

For a race that declared world war and considered themselves the most superior, they don't seem so bad anymore.

They really aren't, y'know?
I imagine many stopped associating with Hypnos when he started committing atrocities on other Elves.
Even then, High Elves nowadays are more known for being artists and craftsmen than conquerors.

Don't worry about it dude! ^^
Truth be told I would've added it, but I kinda had to go before I could write extra facts.

Eh, oh well. Maybe my Dark Elf character Beryl Morcubus could take up that mantle of being holier than thou and such.
