I want to play with a fish-eye lens, so badly.
My host mom works here, not in this building, but here.
Nice shot, I never thought of it as cheese...

no problem, if you have a Nikon.. we could go shoot stuff
I met a lot of people from Wroclaw in AK, but never anyone from there - here

Nahh, I wish I did. I have a little Canon. It's good enough for now, but I wish I had a better one. That would be fun though, your gallery is full of such incredible photography, are you a photojournalist or something?
Really? I don't think I met anyone from Poland in AK, except for an exchange student. I knew we had Polish people but they were American or even Alaskan-born Polish people.

still we could go for a shoot or a beer, seems there's a lot to talk about and my fingers hurt already
I used to shoot for fun, but recently I started my own business - shooting weddings, ads and stuff.. and converting cameras to IR.

Oh, my fingers are used to typing a lot... they do it all the time.
We could, though it probably doesn't help that I'm only 17? haha. xD
Converting cameras, using that special secret combination that you won't share? haha.
Once you convert a camera, is it impossible to shoot regular pictures again with it? Is the conversion permanent?
Oh, I added you to nasza-klasa, by the way

heheh, you get around polish internet
you should come here next year, you get 3 extra years of legal drinking compared to home
I can put clear glass in the camera, so it can be used for normal or IR pics, but one has to use filters on the lens all the time. I prefer to stick an IR filter inside and use it only for ir.. to revert, I'd have to dismantle the cam again..

I've been here for 6 months, I go to school here... classmates tell me things
Ya, that is true... haha.
That sounds complicated.
Haha.
I think I'll leave my camera intact and inferior, thanks, haha.
Maybe when I get a better camera, and I come back to Poland, we can go have a beer and you can modify my camera.. hahaha.

Interesting distortion.
Looks like a fisheye image cut in half, by the curvature of the sidewalk.
But the curvature of the lamp post & building facade seems opposite what I would expect.
hmmmm.... what's going on?
Did you manipulate this image somehow?

why cut in half?.. it's straight, uncropped from the Tokina 10-17 fisheye @ 10mm

PS: Yeah.. when I look at it turned sideways the curvatures are more like what I would expect.
But the distortion still seems quite low for that lens @ 10mm!
Very nicely done!
Kudos!!!

Oh... I have that same lens!
I LOVE it!
By "cut in half" I meant...
... the sidewalk is relatively straight on the left side in the distance & as it gets closer to the camera starts to curve toward what appears to be the halfway point of that arc, as if this image were photographed in landscape orientation but cropped to portrait orientation using only the left side of the image. So... Wow... shot this way & uncropped? Fascinating ...
I'm really amazed that this is shot at 10mm with that lens!
I wouldn't expect the distortion to be as low as it is @ at that focal length!
This is a very interesting image for me because I'm trying to figure out ways to use that lens where all the pictures don't look the same.
I'll have to go experiment some more LOL
Thanks

I had to double check.. it's 11 mm one bad thing about this lens is that the zoom ring is too easy to accidentally turn.. I also sometimes think it should be more bent, but it all really depends on the object distance - one step closer makes a huge difference sometimes

Oh... you must have used the 11-16mm f/2.8 ...
... not the 10-17mm Fish-Eye which is what I thought you meant.
Do you have both of those lenses?
That looks like a very nice lens, from looking at both this image & the specs... it's on my wish list
I like the not-so-overpowering distortion.
I've experienced the same sensitivity with my 10-17 Fish-Eye .
Minute changes in relation to subject (distance, angle, etc) can have very dramatic effects on the image.
Plus, the 180º field of view makes it extremely difficult to take a picture without accidentally getting my feet or the camera strap in there someplace! LOL
One thing I LOVE about my lens is the min. focus distance is so close, you have to be careful not to bump the glass!
Thanks for taking the time here...
... you've helped me allot.

What a cheesy pun in the title
I like this one, feels like a good balance between the facade and the lamp post.
