Description
I don't know about you, but I often doubt in my skills or abilities. And for me the best way is to force myself into creating again. The start is often difficult but about 1/3 in I usually already feel better. When I saw this quote I knew I have to make something with it, and what's better than a notebook, a tool for creating? It's a perfect gift for someone who you think is talented but maybe need that extra puch to believe in themselves.
The journal base is Canson Art Book One, with 100 sheets of 100g/m2 white paper, perfect for sketching or just writing a new ideas for your stories. It's 10,2 x 15,2 cm (4x6 in).
The cover is made of precolored metallic polymer clay. I used a deep sky blue glass bead and 17 vintage Swarovski zirconias in different shade of blue and green. The upper floral part and the dots on the bottom are touched up with extra fine glitter. The whole item is painted with protective varnish.
The cover is handmade from scratch, without the use of any molds, stamps or cutters.
It's ONE OF A KIND.
This journal is in my etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/Tishaia

*sigh* Ain't that the truth. Self-doubt can really stop your creativity dead in its tracks and I've been through it more than once. Is that something you experience often yourself?

Hey, that's some fine art here, very impressive!
I have never done something like this and was wondering if you could make some kind of tutorial or if you know a website where I can find instructions. I'd love to try something like this!

Hey! just look for journal clay cover tutorial, there is a few on youtube . I watched this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cH_mv… but I rather invented my own methods than stick to it. If you need me to answer any questions, just ask!

I am using Darwi Vernis, though I'm not super happy with it, because it's really thick. I also use matt varnish by Stamperia, it's normally used for protecting decoupage items, but I think it works quite well, it's thinner and the tiny details are more visible thanks to that. I tend to put two coatings of it .
I am still looking for my perfect varnsh to be completly honest.
I don;t have a faq but thai's a great idea, I have to think about that XD. In the meantime, if you want to know anything, just ask .

I've always wondered when I see these fantastic journals - how do put the clay on? Do you just use glue?

My theatre teacher always said "Generality is the enemy of all art"... I believe that, too. This is beautiful, though!!!! I hope to get one from you someday!
