Description
I went to my grandmother's house to say 'good bye' to some relative leaving for England. This is some of the beauty I see driving home on US-74 (such a pretty stretch of road). I really don't have much else to say aside from the standard and I LOVE PANORAMAS!Thank you very much for looking.
Please share your thoughts and/or critique; it will be greatly appreciated.

That's a big shadow. Was there a UFO at your area?

It's really pretty, and it really looks like something you would see in an art gallery or something.
Just wondering, did you stitch this?

Yup. There's a certain... serenity about it. The buildings in the background bother me, but I just personally don't like buildings in nature. It's not your fault, I'm just obsessive compulsive.

i'm going to copy and paste a conversation i had with someone on this shot-

ββ-It's sheer beauty and awe are all ruined by the grain silloh in the background :C
I would crop that out, but it's still good
*tjparson
ββ-no! the silo was left in the shot for balanceβ¦lemme esplain
a) i wanted to place emphasis on the contrast between the golden field and the blue sky, thus i made this a horizontal panorama
b) due to the tree line being so dark, the shadows of the clouds on the field became dull, so i needed something to break up the tree line
c) the white silo added just the right amount of contrast against the trees to draw your attention just to the right of the center of the shot and near the back of the field next to the trees. bringing the focus there allowed me to place a little extra emphasis on the shadows cast by the clouds
put it in large view and crop it out with your handβ¦the shot becomes fairly bland (it doesn't make your eyes jump around)
(this doesn't work as well when it is in the small view though)
=Sakonworshiper
ββ-must you have a logical explination for everything?

thats what happens to my pictures when i work with my OCDs ^^

Heh. You're right!
I've always had a problem with humanity showing up in nature shots, but it really WOULD look incomplete without it.

well there are times where it shouldn't be there, but for a field made by people, it just wouldn't look right without it ya know?

Cool. And I'll bet the contrast of the shadows was better--more striking--in person than is represented in the photo. I love these kind of shots but I can never seem to capture the contrast as I see it.
Taylor, what app do you use for stitching?

tjparson In reply to atBobbert [2008-06-30 06:46:14 +0000 UTC]
the shadows were incredible. i tried to lower the light levels in an attempt to make the shadows much more distinguished, but twas futile because it turned the trees black and there was no happy medium!
no picture can ever capture the intensity of the the sheer beauty of what the eye can see (but thats why photoshop was created)
i use a program that came with my camera (canon powershot sd1000), but it is a less than stellar program. i will be getting a crazy setup within the next six months (hopefully) and when i do, i will def let you know

I know what you mean--the eye's dynamic range far exceeds our CCD/CMOSs--even film
Cool, I'd like to know what you settle on..

Bravo!
really cool shot.. i especially loved the lines on the ground..
and the shapes of the clouds.. ^^
and as usual.. ehm!.. loved that still lifeobject that you include in your shots.. ((the water tanks))
i dunno if it was in purpose or not ^^" but it makes the shot 'erfect' as i see it..
regards

thank you very much
the clouds that day were full of character
ah, so you're a fan of my 'human element' that i try to include in my shots?
thank you very much

Spirit31 In reply to tjparson [2008-06-30 14:55:19 +0000 UTC]
lol.. I can't really say i'm a "Human Element fan"!
but in my point of view, i think it gives the picture something..mmm..
i don't really know how to descibe it.. a 'detail' maybe <
and of course that "human element" isn't suitable for all kind of shots!..
i dunno if u got me in this point.. =?
π: 0 β©: 1
tjparson In reply to Spirit31 [2008-07-01 17:39:33 +0000 UTC]
rightβ¦i feel like the minor 'human elements' have a certain appeal to them when used tastefully in a shot such as thisβ¦but they have to 'fit' the shotβ¦example-if i were to do a shot of a sunset-sunsets are big so i would want to place something small (or appears small in the size of the shot) in the shot (plane maybe)-sunsets tend to be upβ¦so i would put something that one would normally see when looking up (plane, street lamp, ect)
yes you are right the 'human element isn't suitable for all shots.
β¦lol sry, didn't mean to write so much ^^

I've got a thing for panoramas myself and this is a nice one . The colour of the ploughed field is quite thin compared to the trees. It makes an interesting contrast. I wonder how it would look in a sunset or sunrise. The shape of the field looks like somebody's back, their shoulders at the right-hand side of the image. Cool, dude
.

lol secretly we all do
yeah i really liked the contrast, so i made a horizontal pano (as well as trying to emphasis the shadows of the clouds)
holy crapola it does!
thanks much
