It has never been mentioned.
I like to imagine that he left the Hunter HQ to offer his skills in a more peaceful way, similarly to what X was doing at the beginning of MMX7. But i still can't help but think he would love to assist his friends when they need him, even just occasionally. 😭

Yes, that's what is great with fan works, the people behind them generally bring more lore. To see X being assisted by other hunters show his status in a new light. I don't know how Douglas will be used in this game but I'm already grateful after what I saw. XD

I... Never thought of that... 😲 I mean, I had imagined how he could look like without a helmet or with a different armor, but unarmored?
