Description
Taken during my photo essay on 'Miranda's Nightmare.' I ended up in a lot of awkward positions trying to get dynamic perspectives on everything I shot. For this photo I was lying full out on my belly as the pointe dancers warmed up before rehearsal.I always loved pointe shoes. When I was a little girl taking ballet lessons [my mother thought it would make me more graceful...it didn't I was a horribly awkward lanky limbed child...still am], I always envied the older dancers on pointe. Taking photos of these girls I learned that that envy hasn't yet gone away. They are so beautiful and graceful floating on the tips of their toes. While I still clomp around like an elephant in my flip flops. C'est la vie.
This is my entry for onewordsphotos Shoe contest. [link]

I am a dancer that is en pointe myself, and I became one three years ago. But before I was en pointe, I remembered having that same envy. Looking at the highschool dancers, and longing to do what they were doing. It is such a thrill to be en pointe; I love it. ;D
This is a really cool pic, too. The dancer's ribbons are tied kind of wierdly, but I really like the black and white affect, and that the pointe shoes are all kind of dirty, and look worn in. *fav*

Standing on the toes only - how does she do it?!
I really like that photo.... kinda darkish, but it fits here, and I really like that shimmer of the shoe's ribbons!

pointe shoes may be pretty but they wreak havoc on your feet
